This is my first time trying to temp so I was wondering if you ladies can give your opinion about my chart it would be greatly appreciated. My cycles normally are 35 days. Since cd14, my temp dropped. On cd10 I had a massive dip but that was because AF decided to leave the building later than usual. I don't know if these are the temps before actual O or I can be ovulating now. Please help. My chart is in my siggy thanks.

Hi there,

Your chart looks fine to me... I guess you are approaching ovulation. I usually have a big dip in my temp after af and 4-5 days before ovulation. You need to chart for atleast 3 months to know the pattern of your cycle. I have been charting my temps way before I even started TTC, so now I have a good hang of it. So far your temps look good, look for a dip (ovulation) and three consecutive increases in temps after that dip would confirm ovulation. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. Now I am feeling at ease. When the temp dropped to 96.8, DH and I DTD last night and will again tonight. Hoping to catch the egg. This is my first cycle trying but I have been TTC for almost 11 months now after m/c.

If you normally have a 35 day cycle your ovulation is most likely around day 21 or so, so look for the spike in temp then!

I was thinking that it would be around cd21 or cd22 but every time DH and I DTD around that time I ended up with BFNs. Is it possible to O earlier than expected?

From what I read when you have a longer cycle you ovulate later. So someone that has 28 day cycke will ovulate sooner than cycle 33. If you are irregular w/periods my gyno recommended OPK because of irregualr and right now I am CD 20 with no ovulation. If you use a site that predicts ovulation based on your period and cycle length that may help you. Hope I helped. I also found this article informative. It touches base with temps & ovulation.

Good Luck :)

Assuming you ovulate on CD 21 or 22 out of a 35 day cycle means that you have a 13-14 day LP. While this is maybe the 'norm', it might not be the case for you. So just to be safe, I'd suggest to continue temping & after 3 cycles you'll know for sure how long your LP is. If you have a longer LP, then you Ovulate earlier in your cycle & a shorter LP means you Ovulate later. If you target cd's 21 & 22, then you could totally be missing Ovulation. I always thought I Ovulated on CD14/15 & I was actually Ovulating on CD20! So totally missing O. Pay attention to when you get that dip & be sure to DTD every couple days just to cover your basis. You can buy Wondfo OPK's off of Amazon, for $10 (40opk's & 10 hpt's) if you want to be sure you don't miss ovulation.

hope you don't have to worry about any of this though & that you get your sticky bean!! :dust:

Thanks ladies. I am going to just temp tomorrow and see if it spikes or not. I am around cd16 cd17 now so it's close to cd21 estimated O date. if my temp spikes above cover line then I O earlier than expected.

I always get a temp drop before Ov, but most women actually don't. Really pre-ov temps the only thing you need is to be temping consistently (every day, same time, before you get out of bed)

Just keep having sex at least every other day until you get a spike. But remember it has to stay up for 3 days to get your cross hairs indicating ovulation.

I stay by university and oakland so we are very close.

have you tried opks? They really help with getting the timing right! :)

I tried OPKs but ended with positive for 2 weeks straight.

Wow positive for two weeks straight?!?! That's so crazy.. Is the test line as dark as the control line? You probably know how opks work though haha. If that's the case you may want to speak to a doctor, that's not normal.

I think it was just a bad batch. Because even when my DH took one it was one line then a few mins later he had a faint line so I think it was a bad batch. My temp just shifted from 96.8 to 97.1. It had a temp dip for like 5 days.

Mzswizz, on your OPK's was the test line as dark as the control line? Cause it's okay to have a faint line on your OPK througout the month, because some women have higher levels of LH that are in their system. If the test line wasn't as dark or darker then the control line though, then the tests were negative..

Yes the test line was as dark as the control line. At first I thought they were negative but when i knew that it had to be either the same or darker, then i knew they were positive.

If my temp went from 96.8 to 97.1 does that put me at 1dpo today or does that mean I still havent ovulated yet?

It's hard to say just by one temp rise. The thermal shift has to be a sustained shift. So if you ovulated yesterday, you'll know in 2 more days.

I was told to see if the temps stay elevated for 3 days before knowing but i just wanted to know by how many degrees it suppose to rise by. Because I read that it suppose to be around .3 or .4 and some women have a sudden rise while others have a slow increase
