Pregnant 9 months after C-section, should I worry about placenta problems?

DD was born via EMCS 9 months ago, and we were told by my OB to wait at least 6 months before trying again. He said a year would be ideal, but 6 months was the minimum. I wish he'd gone into a little more detail and used the word 'recommended' instead of the word 'ideal' to describe waiting until 1 year.

Now I'm freaking out a bit about placenta previa and accreta, which someone told me are much more common for women who have had C-sections within a year of each other than in women who space them out more. I was wondering if anyone here has personal experience or knowledge on this topic?

After losing my son shortly after birth, I was told the same, at least 6 months, ideally 1 year, recommended 2 years. I got pregnant 7 months after my c section. I haven't had any problems with the placenta, but I was warned of the increased risk from getting pregnant so soon. My consultants main worry was that the placenta would attach to the scar and cause serious problems. Thankfully I've been ok, but there is an increased risk. I'm not sure there's much that can be done to help prevent it though x

I had an ELCS 15 months after EMCS - got pregnant when ds1 was 6 months planned.... was never told to wait a certain length of time before TTC again... thankfully will be a longer wait if we have a 3rd :)

I was told during 2nd section I had a lot of scar tissue which is unusual in such a short time but that it shouldnt cause me any issues if we have another x

etc - I had an additional growth scan at 36 weeks to check where placenta was to make sure this was ok

I fell pregnant 3 months after i had an EMCS, i had another EMCS (i had planned a section but he came 2 weeks early so not an actual emergency, just classed as such..) My sections were 1 year and 5 days apart.
I had no problems and also wasn't told to wait.
I also received an additional scan at 36 weeks to check placenta position, so even if it isn't in the best position, the surgeon will know and will proceed with your section on that basis.

I had a emcs with DS, was very ill afterwards so ill the doctor said I only cheated death because of my age even tho a hospital blunder caused it! I was so scared after that to even think of anymore children so went on the mini pill. 9months later discovered I was pregnant due to the pill not working effectively, 9 months later dd was born a week overdue healthy, no problems with placenta or previous scar everything healed perfectly :)

Sammynashley: Was your DD born via CS or did you try VBAC? I assume VBAC if she went a week overdue but just to make sure. I am going to be having a CS with LO #2 because pelvic prolapse runs in my family, and if we have another it will have to be CS as well. If you did VBAC, how did it go?

Dd was born by csection, I was attempting a vbac but after 6 unsuccessful sweeps and no signs of labour or dilation my consultant suggested that csection would be safe than vbac due to complications I had with me emcs and the scar tissue that had formed. But there was a positive the surgeon removed all my old scar tissue during my csection :)

I became preg exactly 3 mos after my c section with twins- planned - and I was not told to wait - and I had him healthy and happy @ 37+ weeks- which was 1 year to the date that I had my last c section - we are ALL fine. That was my 3rd c section an my Dr upon my yearly last year-asked when I was having another baby- I said not right now and shared I was scared of the placenta attachment etc- he advised me that its rare and is not likely that it would happen-and it can be placement of placenta can be seen on ultrasound. That gave me a lot of hope so we are actually planning TTC again this summer- VBAC- have 2 consults coming up- I hope everything works out only for the best for you!
