Well I nearly had the title as 'Pregnant with Chronic Illness' then thought hmm we're not pregnant with a chronic illness, it's a beautiful baby - so I reworded it, lol.

Anyway, thought we best have a thread up for those of us who are fighting Chronic Illness, can be anything from Hayfever and Asthma to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome etc!

I'll start.

I'm Mummy to 5, #6 on the way and I have loads... Fibromyalgia, CFS, Asthma, Raynauds Phenomenon and IBS!

I'm due 24th June '14.

Will add our due dates here with brief description of illness?

Hi, it's nice to see someone else who has a chronic illness who is on here. I am 33 and have a 3 year old boy and am pregnant with my second boy. I have fibromyalgia and have had it about 10 years. Pregnancy seems to ease it a little in the pain but I'm so exhausted this time around. X

I know what you mean! Your heart sinks that someone else is going through what you are but in a way it's nice to know you're not alone!
What's your due date, I'll add it to the list if you like?
Are you on any meds (other than good ol' paracetamol) for the Fibro? X

My due date is 23rd January so not long! Not on any meds. Tried lots over the years but just cope best I can. Feel fobbed off most of the time tbh. It's awful if you have a chronic illness but I think fibro is becoming more recognised. How long have you had it? X

Wow, not long at all!
Must admit I've noticed every thing I go to the doctors for it's 'Well its the fibro' with no examination or no tests just very quickly to put it under the FMS umbrella!

I've had it nearly 4 years now, though was only diagnosed 2 years ago and had to fight for that, chronic anemia masked it so they thought I was 'just' anemic... even though I'd told them it was not just anemia!

Do you know what triggered yours? :hugs:

Had a stressful time in my 20s with my parents splitting up and I had glandular fever which is a common trigger apparently. Think I had it a while before I realised it was something. Had to fight for a diagnosis too. When I was eventually sent to a specialist he obviously didn't believe in fibro and he just said everyone has different pain thresholds and proceeded to explain what painkillers are and that there are different ones and basically just patronised me the entire time. I came away in tears cos I was in so much pain could barely lift my arms. It was his registrar on the next appointment that diagnosed me.

Hi, can I join? I'm due on the 3rd September. I had a laparascopy in October and was diagnosed with stage 2 endometriosis, I also have IBS, scalp psoriasis and sciatica that I've had since before I was pregnant. Such a barrel of laughs!

Wow, tough time!
I went through every doctor in my practice before I found one willing to refer me to a rhumatologist!
One doctor said to me 'What's the point in diagnosing something we can't treat?'

It's not about treating, it's about managing!

Sure! Welcome to the thread!
I'll add your E.D.D to the list :)
I had a laparascopy and hysteroscopy to diagnose what they thought was endometriosis but months after the surgery an emergency doctor said it was probably adenomyosis which the only way to diagnose that apparently, is to have a hysterectomy and them to disect it on a pathology table!
