So many questions for you! :haha:

Firstly, how do you keep an almost 3 year old occupied while feeding?? Is there a way you made feeding time special for them too?

I'm also concerned that DS will take an interest in feeding again (he self weaned at 15 months). Is that likely to happen? If it happened to you did you let your 1st child nurse?

My final concern at this point in time (sure there will be plenty to add as I think about this more lol), is how did you cope with growth spurts and cluster feeding with a toddler demanding your attention??

Thanks ladies :flower:

bumping - I refuse to believe none of you lovely ladies have more than one child! :haha:

A sling that you can nurse in will be a life safer, as this gives you hand free for your child. Art projects are GREAT and the same with games.

My daughter is 13.5 months, still nursing and pregnant (march 22-24th for due date). I have been thinking of weaning, if we do. IF after the baby is born and she takes interest to nursing, and I am comfortable with nursing her at the time, than I will. Extended nursing is fantastic for them, but make sure your youngest is fed first.

As for cooping with cluster feeds, movies for the other child, and SLING or baby wrap or something to nurse in.

Hi, I'm just going through this at the moment. My DS1 is 3 and a half and DS2 4 weeks. Can't really help with whether your first child will want to nurse again as mine doesn't but I stopped feeding him at 9 months.

It is all a bit of a juggling act and I must admit that at times I have had to leave ds2 crying for a couple of mins while I help ds1 to the loo or get his lunch etc but usually I get as much prepared as possible before sitting down to feed and get ds1 settled on an activity. Luckily he is very understanding that the baby needs feeding and will happily play by himself and even get himself a snack if he needs it.

With regards to growth spurts and cluster feeding, I have been lucky that ds1 has only really cluster fed for a couple of evenings so far before my milk came in and my other son was in bed at the time. I think we have just been through the 3 week growth spurt but we managed ok and although he fed more regularly there were lots of breaks in between where I could see to ds1.

I must admit that he has watched more tv and played on the iPad more often but I keep telling myself that it is not for long!

I hope this is of some help and reassures you a little. You will be great xx

My middle son was fully FF by 5.5 months yet when second youngest came along he kept saying he wanted to have milk from my 'chestis' as well, I felt a bit strange about that as he was 3.5 and really tall for his age most people thought he was 5 or 6. Eventually I agreed though as I didn't want him feeling jealous or left out. When I said ok you can have mummy milk I expected him to try and latch on, instead he disappeared from the room for a minute and came up to me with a straw from a carton drink, he jabbed it into the side of my boob, tried to suck the straw and when he realised nothing was coming out he just discarded it and never asked again, lol! I did express a bit of milk for him to try once and he said it was ok but he never asked for that again either xx
