Prenatals contain tuna?

I bought these gummy prenatal vitamins last week because they're much easier for me to take, although now I do have to take an additional iron supplement because they don't contain iron, but that's fine.
Anyway on the side of the bottle it says:
"Contains fish (tuna) and soy. This product uses high quality, purified fish oil that has been tested for mercury and PCBs. The high quality purified fish oil used in this product is sourced from sustainable fisheries to ensure eco-friendliness."
The brand name is "Vitafusion Prenatal."
I'm a little confused because I just read that tuna is an unsafe fish to consume while pregnant, but I can't imagine this product would be on the shelves if it were dangerous...
Any thoughts, anyone?

I ate a ton of tuna with dd2 and she's fine :) She does have a speech delay but no proof it's from the consumption of tuna.

I was taking those same prenatals. I'm interested to know too.

I think the risk in consuming too much of certain fish is because of the risk of ingesting too many heavy metals, like mercury, which can cause long-lasting effects on the fragile fetus. They wouldn't sell the vits to pregnant women without first making sure it was free of those, or had very little.

It sounds from the blurb on the side they've taken that into consideration.

I may call my doctor tomorrow and ask her.. I just checked the prenatals I was taking before I switched, and it doesn't look like they contain any Omega 3. They're the "NatureMade Multi Prenatal" vitamins.

its fine, i use this or the cvs store brand....both are fine....nothing is dangerous about it ....

The concern with tuna is mercury, if it's been tested for mercury it must have been found not to have enough especially with the tiny amount that would be in the vitamins to not be a problem. If course checking with your doctor is the best course of action but runs itself is safe to eat in small portions so I wouldn't worry too much about the small amount in the tablets

Everything I have read said the mercury is the issue with tuna as well. I have also read that 2 - 4 cans a week is fine, which made me wonder who in the world would want to eat more than 4 cans of tuna a week...but then when I find something I can actually keep down, I do tend to overdo that food until I can't eat it anymore. You should ask your doctor if you feel uncomfortable, but everything I have read would lead me to believe they are okay. I am sure they mention it for people who have allergies to seafood like they do with the soy, or like some packaging on things mention that they use nuts in their factory.
