Another random question for you lot!

If you are making a meal from scratch do you prepare it during the day ie, chop up the veg, meat or whatever your using??

I usually cut mine up while caitlyns having a nap coz otherwise i lose motivation to do it later on as im multitasking between watching her and trying to cook!

xx

Yeah I usually do that. I usually cut everything up and prepare it in little bowls before cooking later xx

I do it just before I am going to cook

Doesn't your stuff go brown or that when its sitting in the bowls?

What stuff lol?

Ive got onions, mushrooms, peppers and chicken all sliced ready to cook in bowls covered with clingfilm in the fridge. Why would anything go brown? haha im not cooking apples

 Maybe if it was potato's or something:blush:

I am just weird yeh

Oh and i though you left it laying out in bowl :dohh: Not in the fridge ..

I just prepare it before I cook, i'm a pretty mean veg chopper so it all gets done very quick  and we don't eat meat so all other stuff is prepared fresh too :flower: x

id have fingers in there and all sorts haha

I guess it depends what i am making, like today i am making homemade mince & onion pie, onion mash & veggies, so the mince & onion is cooked and cooling, the pastry is made and chilling in the fridge, I'll line the pie tin with the bottom bit of pastry in about half hour and then leave in fridge until just before i am going to make & up to cook for dinner. Pots for mash & veggies i'll most likely prep this afternoon and leave standing in cold water (to avoid pots going brown :))

I just cut the veg etc as I go along.

It depends... if it is the weekend and I am cooking a big elaborate meal, I will usually try to do my prep work early in the day. During the week, I get home from work at 5, and will start everything then so that dinner will be ready for 6:30-7:00 when my husband gets home.

I cut the veg and stuff in the morning and put it in tupperware dishes

it depends what I'm cooking. If it's a stew, casserole, spag bol or chilli I do it the night before as I cook it in my slow cooker. Chicken I don't prepare as I would end up obsessing about my hands and chopping board being clean afterwards (I have a real thing about raw chicken) so thats done when DH gets in from work. everything else is usually prepared about an hour before I'm due to start cooking

I just do it as im making it, works well for us, Brooke eats at 4pm, so i usually prep ours while she's eating, then cook it ready for 5.30pm ... well thats on days im at home

We always eat together... admittedly i dont always prepare it before hand, i dont always make fresh... quite often its a case of cuttin chips lol

Same as you, i do it when Katie is asleep.

Otherwise she sits in the kitchen under my feet, occasionally licking the oven door.
