My lo will be a 6 month old by chrimbo - yikes, where's the time gone? I've got him a few bits and pieces, books, a train with lots of buttons and things on, and eeyore pj case (older but goes with his cot bedding ) a sippy cup with his name on etc but not a main present, haven't a clue what to go get him. Any recommendations?

My son will be 6 months at Christmas, I'm not really bothering with a main present as such - the most expensive thing was a set of mr men books so I guess if you're looking at cost that will be the main present. It's not fancy or whizzy though :-)

I was thinking the same but my mum is pushing and wants to buy big prezzies for him and seems to be trying to out do me on the prezzie front.

I think next year he'll appreciate it more.

When was your lo born? Mine was 4th June

31st May :-)
My inlaws are the same, we've explained that at 6 months old he doesn't need a lot and he won't understand anyway, I don't want them to spend their hard earned pennies when it won't really be appreciated but I know they will anyway - they do with all the grandkids. They love spoiling them, I'm just going to let them get on with it I think. It's only once a year and they love doing it so who am I to spoil their fun :-) But I'm certainly not going to get into a present competition lol!

My feelings too, I just guess I feel guilty a, because I feel like it should be me getting him the big prezzies but am on a budget as looking to move soon and it is only going to be young and 2 because my mum isn't adsactly the wealthiest as she is unable to work due to severe curvature of the spine and I don't want her to leave herself with nothing.
He's her first and only grandchild so I think she's just diving in.
How many prezzies have you got your lo if you don't mind me asking? I've got about 7 books, the train toy and the eeyore so far.

I was looking at what he has the other day, so far it's this:

Clothes from Tesco / George at Asda - 3 t-shirts and trousers, 3 piece outfit, couple of pairs of Dungarees and jumpers and a packet of 5 baby grows (which I was going to open and wrap each baby grow separately so it looks like more). Although to be honest I think he's going to be wearing all of these before christmas he's growing so fast - the next time Tesco / George have a sale I'll replace them with the next size up I think

I've also got:
Winter coat
Mr Men books
Baby flashcards
baby picture book (with things like dog, cat, house etc in it)
a couple of other baby books (with touchy feely bits, pop up things etc on them)
stacking rings and some bath toys (on offer at Asda)

i've just gone for stuff he's going to need anyway - clothes, books etc. I'll leave the "fun" stuff like toys etc for grandparents to buy if they want to. I've bought a couple of keepsake things like a stocking with his name embroidered on it, a santa plate etc. I know he's too young at the moment but I'd like to use them every year and be able to say in the future "we've used this since your first Christmas".

Mine will be 6 months too - i think we are lucky as next yr we'll get 18m months and so on - it falls on the ages of toys perfectly!

I found it helpful just looking for things with 6 months on haha! :)
