hey ladies just wondering if anyone knows of a private clininc where theyll check the cervix. mums in solihull is far to expensive (£170) so any other alternatives. i dont mind travelling as far as leicester and coventry and wolverhampton- as im from birmingham but thats it as doc has said no travelling.

the thought of not being checked for a week at week 18 scares me and i dont want to risk it. thank you in advance. xxxx

The clinic I had my private scan in Nottingham does cervical scansa (but only between certain weeks, 20 rings a bell). They are called Proscan. I was going to book in as I had fears I had an incompetent cervix due to having some of my cervix taken away previously.

Maybe give them a ring if you dont mind the travel?

xxx

You could try these people at Bloxham, just outside Banbury.Should be easy enough for you to get to via the M40. Not sure about cervical scans but they were going to check out exactly what was happening with my previa for me (when I got next to no feedback on the NHS one) under a £60 wellbeing scan.

Thanks Hun will call all my options. Lizzie I'm being seen every 2 weeks which I know is good but after my last pregnancy at 20 weeks and then my 2nd pregnancy at 26 weeks(were they put a cerclage at 19 weeks) i really thought they wudve put one in automatically this time round. I'm confused yet one of those ppl who just goes with what the professionals say. Do u think 2 weeks is ok. Can u shorten dramatically in this time. X

Dippy - I had mine done at mums in solihull. I booked it as a fetal wellbeing scan and double checked it would include a cervical length assessment at 19 weeks. The consultants are really good, if something needs checking, they will just check it. They could tell from the anomaly scan that my cervix looked a little short, so did the internal anyway and still only charged me £120. Honestly, I can't speak highly enough of them, they give great advice and will ensure that if something needs pursuing by your nhs doc, it will be done. They made my nhs docs take action where nothing was being done and assured me if i had any further problems to give them a call and the would contact the fetal medicine team personally. They are well respected and certainly struck some fear factor with the fetal medicine team at my local hospital. I'm not on any commision I promise! :hugs:

The only other place I know of is bumps in old bury, who did an early scan for me when I was bleeding. They were good, but it wasn't consultant advice.
