I'm going back to work four days a week (Mon-Thurs) and I'm not sure how the AL has been calculated. Anyone know how it's done? I've looked on google but as a long term employee I get more than the normal 20 days so not sure how to work it out as HR have worked out a different figure to me.

If I were working five days still I would have 25 days plus the 8 bank holidays.

TIA :)

Wouldn't it be 20? My allowance is 33 days and I work 18.5 hours so just decide by 2. 4/5 days will be 20/25?

I get 8 bank holidays on top but if a BH falls on a working day I have to take it out my holiday allowance.

That's what I thought too! They have worked it out as 26.5 inc bank hols?

It can get quite complicated with part time hours and bank holidays. Are you entitled to the full years holiday or are you going back part way through as that could affect allowance. Also, you may need to look at what days bank holidays fall on- for example I work mon, Tues and half wednesday. So 4 bank holidays fall on a Monday in my next leave year so I would deduct them from my leave but then 4 bank holidays fall on a Thursday and Friday so I add that to my leave. As it turns out for me, they just cancel each other out! But some companies don't pro rata their bank holidays, you'd need to check it out. Clear as mud I know! Sometimes the easiest way is just to accept what HR say!

I'm going back 4 days too I'm going to find out next week how many days I will get but I thought if I'm doing 4days instead of 5 that's 80% so I will get 80% of my holidays....? I could be wrong :) x

I think if you were full time you would have 33 days holiday including bank hols. 80% of this is 26.4 and it is usually rounded to the nearest half day.

But may have mis read it?

Ooh. That makes sense. Thanks!

I work 24.5 hours a week, my work place does 35 hours as the full time so I work 0.7 FTE thus my annual leave is 70% of the full time equivalent which I believe is 31 days, so we all get 6 weeks off a year despite how many hours we work if that makes sense. Bank holidays confuse me though, I don't work Mondays but I think I get the hours back on my overall entitlement.
