Hi everyone

My HSG has showed up that the ends of both tubes are partially blocked and that IVF is really the only realistic option for up. I have a lap & dye booked on October 18th to confirm this diagnosis.

I guess I'm clutching at straws here - but has anybody had as HSG which showed up a potential problem, only to have the all clear or a better diagnosis when they had their lap done?

Here's hoping xxxx

Sorry for ur news hun, I wuda thought they wud see what is causing the blockages and then try and repair them during ur Lap. which end are ur blocks? My 1 is close to the uterus and the other is expanding, cant be good!

Dont give up hope yet! xxxx

Hiya. The damage is at the ends closest to the ovaries, so the little 'hairy' bits can't sweep the egg into the tubes. Basically the FS said there was little likelihood of surgery being successful and that if the diagnosis is right, then it's definitely IVF for us :-(

My only hope really is that that HSG was wrong and that because of the pain, the tubes can sometimes spasm up and give a false reading. But the FS said not to hold out much hope - I guess that was the reason for this post really, to find out if anyone else had got a false HSG reading, and then everything turned out fine when they had their Lap. Fx!!!!!

xxxxx

I hope that ur tubes are ok and that it was a false reading on ur hsg! The dr told me the same thing that ur tube can go into a spasm so hopefully it's just that for both of us.

Good luck with ur lap. Keep me posted on how it went xxx

My hsg did show blocked tubes - and then when I had the lap done - it appeared that my tubes weren't blocked and probably just had a spasm.

Best wishes.

After i had a pelvis scan the gynee could see that i had blocked tubes so i had a lap and dye done. The lap showed i had to blocked tubes. The tubes where blocked at the top and damaged at the bottom on both sides. I was told that i would never conceive and that IVF was my only chance. I also have pcos. I had never tried to conceive and had the original scan as my periods where irregular. So while waiting for my 1st IVF appointment we stoped protecting. That was in november 2008. In march 2010 my daughter was born. Conceived naturally. I didnt even have help with the pcos. So yes its very possible that they can get it wrong, Tubes can spasim and doctors dont no everything:hugs:

Thank you xxxx

I love hearing stories like this as it gives me (and probably others reading it) hope that there's always a chance of conceiving, even when everything looks bleak! Congrats on your little one, she's beautiful :flower:
