Hi everyone. Been a long time since I posted on these forums and first time in the loss section. Me and my partner have been ttc for about 12 months now. We are very lucky as we have had a bfp every cycle. However days (sometimes hours) after the bfp I begin to bleed and suffer a chemical pregnancy. I'm not sure of the exact amount as there has been so many I have lost count ... My cycles are irregular so I'm guessing about 8/9 consecutive chemical pregnancies. The last chemical was particularly heartbreaking as the bfp lasted longer than normal (only by a few days) and I was extremely ill with morning sickness. We really thought that we had got a sticky one this time as the pregnancy hormone must have been pretty strong to make me so ill so early.

We have been to the gp several times who has dismissed me and cast doubt over wether I was even pregnant in the first place ... Which is the worst thing to suggest to me as I know my body and I know a bfp when I see one  so we returned again last week after reading up on low progesterone levels and realising that I can relate to every single symptom including the non pregnancy related ones. We asked if he would test my hormone levels. He refused. We asked if he would prescribe progesterone supplements as it couldn't hurt to try and again he refused. He has refered us to an ultra sound scan (at a previous visit months ago .. Still yet to receive an appointment date) and has now refered us to the infertility clinic. He said there is a minimum of 3 months waiting list for the clinic. He didn't seem to understand that this is another possible 3 losses for us

I am now trying to take matters in to my own hands. I have ordered some progesterone cream and from what I can understand this can only provide a very low amount of progesterone to the body so I'm not getting my hopes up too much. I have also ordered some b-5 complex supplements as I have read they are great for balancing hormone levels and I have also started taking 75mg of aspirin daily. There is a private consultant who I have been in contact with who is very happy to see us ... But it's a bit pricey. We have decided to try a cycle on these supplements and then if it still results in a loss we will find the money and go private.

Can anyone advise me if there is anything I can do myself, without prescription, to increase the progesterone and give our next pregnancy a fighting chance?

I'm so sorry for all your losses and I hope and pray we all get our rainbows very soon! Thank you for any replies in advance, we are getting desperate now :flower:

Do you know you lutel phase length, if I'm really brutally honest it does sound like a Lp defect... There are a few things that can help with this. Irregular cycles are a bitch....do you temp chart? If not I'd advise starting, as I undertlstand fertility clinics love to see charts.

First off, have you read about vitamin b6? It's vital in a lutel phase defect and it also increases progesterone.....iv read studies that can show women on vit b6 have a much lower change of a chemical than those not taking it.

Your in the 'lucky' camp, as you clearly have no problem conceiving, just maintaining a pregnancy, and I'm sorry your doc is so unhelpful. Unfortunately in the UK they won't help ubless it's 3 consecutive Mc after 6 weeks, seems chemicals arnt included what so ever for most things, which is heartbreaking.

I wish you the best of luck x x

You could do suppositories instead of the cream. Ordered online, no script.

Other than that, im not sure. :hugs::hugs:

Thank you for your replies ladies it's really appreciated! I am using a progesterone cream every day multiple times a day. I've put myself on 1 x b5 complex vitamin a day and I'm also taking 75mg of aspirin a day. Today I got my bfp again and I'm guessing I'm about 10 dpo. It appears my last 2 cycles have been standard 28 day cycles which is very unusual for me. I haven't been charting as I find it all very confusing to be honest ... I will read up more on it and give it a go. Fingers very tightly crossed that this is a sticky!

I have just realised that I'm taking a b5 supplement and I think I should be taking b6 ... Is that right? I'll go pick up some this afternoon. I've tried to find the progesterone suppositories online but I can't find any ... Does anyone have a link?

Have also just got my scan date through for the 30th of June, by which, if I have my dates right and I remain pregnant for that long, I should be 5 weeks pregnant. Hopefully the pregnancy can be detected in a scan that early. A bfp does not fill me with joy and excitement anymore which is really sad. I will relax when it is detected via ultra sound.

Sticky baby dust to all xxxx

have you ever looked into maca? A lot of women with LP defect have taken it and continued on it throughout their pregnancy. It's an adaptogen so therefore will balance things out as most with LP defect are estrogen dominant.
