Progesterone Suppositories (TMI) - Advise please

HI All

I have been prescribed Progesterone suppositories in order to assist with a potential Incompetent cervix.

My question,is, how far up do you put them? Front or back passage?

I've used them 2 days in a row now (front passage) and I put one in first thing, and by the time I get to work it seems to have dissolved and come out and onto my knickers?

I'm worried this its not staying in long enough to do it jobs?

any advise please?

Try putting them in at night before bed as you will be lying down longer. They are still messy though xx

Do you do them twice a day? I had them morning and night in the first tri and beginning of 2nd. The morning one would always come out a bit (and usually the shell) the first time I went to the restroom. Put it up as far as you can get it and don't worry about it. Some will come out, but it's okay.

I have to use them twice a day...the night time one seems to be fine...

I'll try and push it up a little further, just worried that I'll irritate my cervix?!

I've been using them during this pregnancy. I've been told to take them rectally, it took a bit of getting used to, lol, but I don't get any leakage at all. In my first pregnancy which was IVF I had to take them vaginally and they were incredibly messy! Maybe find out if you can use them rectally?

Dr said I can use them rectally...but wasn't relishing the thought! lol....maybe i'll do them that way in the morning! xx

I prefer mine rectally, I push in in and don't feel it after and no leakage at all. Much nicer than vaginally and I figure that more is being absorbed. Also I don't need to lie down after which is good

I agree with dream. It took a few days to get my head around the idea and putting them in 'the back door', lol, but it's actually fine. I can't feel them either. Perhaps try it and see how you get on!

Thanks for your replies ladies, I used them rectally all weekend and its definitely less messy!

a little uncomfortable when inserting them, but I'll do anything to make sure this baby stays put! lol

Im using them too - morning and night. I put them in the 'front door' which can be messy but since im on constant bed rest I dont find it too bad....I put one in a 10am and one in at 10pm and dont go to the toilet for 1-2 hours....When I do go and I wipe I feel like alot comes out....the only way I can describe is a creamy slimy gloopy stuff. Ive been googling it loads and apparently its absorbed really quickly - usually in about 20 mins. Ive read that your body absorbs what it needs and discards the rest.

Ive been told to push them in as far as they will go which I do kinda but I dont want to aggravate my cervix and stitch!

If I wasnt on bed rest id probably pop them in the back door as I think that would be less messy when you are up and about xx
