I've noticed a few people making the same comment over and over again about Ethan....."oh he looks normal" erm, yes he is a gorgeous baby who is "normal" ...I think although born at 34weeks which is not that prem compared to most of you ladies, people round here think its uncommon so perhaps expect him to be different!

So I decided to start a little proud of our preemies thread.....every smile, laugh, milestone is so special for us because they aren't a given..and hey who doesn't enjoy sharing pics of their LO!

Aww! Your baby boy is so adorable!!! When did he get to go home?
I know what you mean, everyone kept saying that my baby girl looked fine and that she should be able to come home when she was born.. even my DH kept saying how they should let us take her home when she was in the NICU. She was born 35 weeks and couldn't regulate her own temperature and wasn't eating so we had to tube feed her for about 13 days and she got to come home at 15 days old. It's such a hard time and felt like it lasted forever! My first baby and preterm labor came out of no where, my OB was even floored because I had such a healthy, normal pregnancy!! I see you've had two preemies? We want one more in 3-5 years and I'm so scared that we'll have another preemie now.. Anyways!!! I'll be happy to share pics!!! :happydance:

Ooooh Scarlett is just perfect!!!!!! Such a gorgeous little thing...loving the Buddha belly picture lol! Ethan got to go home at 11days old...they prob would of kept him in just one/two more nights to ensure feeding was fully established but had a unexpected triplet delivery and so said if we wanted we could go but they called for three days to check up! :)

I agree it is really hard when they are kept in, ESP as jack came out big enough / feeding ok so never went to scbu other than to be checked over, just stayed n normal ward with me :happydance:

I was nervous about the second but was assured it was unlikely to happen again ...which is true I guess I was unlucky :dohh:

Anyways we just found out this am that we are having another LO!!!!!! Crazy I know but had so many fertility issues didn't think would happen again is soon  Must admit I'm little apprehensive about it happening again but if I keep positive it might help and least we know what to expect....us preemie mummies are tough ;)

One of the things that REALLY annoys me is how certain relatives reacted to us having a preemie (I'm not going to post photos - I've had some vile PMs on this site with threats and all sorts)... the relative in question (one of the grandparents) has tonnes of hospital photos from her other grandchild - but none from us - no photos of her in the incubator or with the nasal tube in - it's like a black hole of embarassment till she came home from hospital (and we sent the same photos to both grandparents).

God dizz that's terrible ( people's attitudes on here and the grandparents!) :hugs:

Must admit we were selective about the photos put on fb but only because some young family members had access and we wanted them to meet him first rather than be scared of wires etc.....but I agree some people have no sense! One family member asked me to remove the picture above with his teddy bear as it was insensitive and she didn't like it!!!! She was told to f**k off pretty quick...I told her i found it Insensitive she was offended by pics of him....god forbid if he had been a micro preemie or something :/

I try to remember that they have no idea how any of us feel so it's just ignorance x we can stick together if you don't wanna post but wanna pm that's fine...would love to see LO :) x

Aww, Your baby jack is such a strong little guy!!!!
My OB has told us that since we've had one preemie, it's likely that our next will be early as well. Now I know i'll be a complete nerve wreck next time around!!!!

OH MY GOSH!!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!! That is amazing!!! Sometimes I wish my DH would want to have another baby close to Scarlett but after her whole nicu stay he keeps saying in ten years we'll have another... he's crazy! definitely sooner than that!!!!
but gosh!! Congrats!!!!
Gives me a little hope for next time as well since we had fertility issues and had to use clomid to get pregnant!

dizz, Oh that is horrible!!! I am so sorry that people are like that to you on here and that your grandparents were like that about her in the NICU. It's absolutely absurd.. I think I would've completely flipped if my parents or my in-laws had acted like that. But emaritska is right, they have no idea how we feel through it all if they didn't have a preemie themselves.. Not that that gives her any right act like she did. There is nothing to ever be ashamed or embarrassed about with a preterm baby. I try to look at it now as how much Scarlett has made it through, she's such a strong little girl and it makes me so proud! Feel free to PM me pictures too if you want to share!!! I just LOVE baby pics!! :cloud9:
