PTL? Does any of this sound familiar?

Alright, first: thanks for reading. This might be long lol.

For starters, I am 29 weeks, 1 day. A few weeks ago, I started having dull, rhythmic back aches and cramping. It came and went and although it definitely made me wonder what was going on, I didn't pay too much attention. However, when I went to work and was on my feet for long hours, I had a lot of contractions. I thought I might have an irritable uterus. So, a few days later, I mentioned it to my midwife. At this point, I wasn't having any pain at all. She monitored me and there were no contractions(as expected). She also did a FFN, which came back negative. However, when she did an internal, I was 1cm dilated and "50-75%" effaced. She asked me to come back in if I had more issues. So, the next 2 days I went to work, and I was in constant pain (my back) with a LOT of contractions. The next day, I went to hospital to get checked as I was worried I might be making things worse. Again, no contractions on monitor (again, I wasn't having pain at this point). When she checked, she said I had gotten a bit "softer". She put me off work for the week and put me on bedrest until I could see the OBS tomorrow. I have now been home since Saturday, resting and reading and not doing much of anything. When I'm not in pain, I feel like this is crazy and I should be at work, but then I have other moments when I am sure I am going into labor for real. On Monday night, I had the waves of pain for 2 hours and went to bed. They woke me a few times, but by midnight were gone. Tuesday, I had no pain whatsoever. Then yesterday, the backache and cramps started around noon and came and went regularly all day. (Even when I walked, moved, peed, etc) By 7pm, it was so constant that I was really starting to get scared. But after another hour or so, it all petered out and was gone for the night. Today so far I've had a few contractions and some low backache, but nothing regular.
I haven't had any other symptoms. No change in discharge. No leaking.
I know this was long-winded, but I wasn't sure how else to explain it properly. What do you ladies think? Does this sound like anything you have experienced? Or is it more likely just irritable uterus??

Yes yes and yes. Although I'm not in PTL. But I'm going through the saaaame thing as you.

It sounds like you have irritable uterus, like me. My contractions can be anywhere between 5 to 20 in one day, with lots of residual cramping and discomfort over the course of the day.

Activity and stress seem to be what triggers my contractions, but even then, sometimes I'm laying in bed and I'll have 5 that hour after I'd already slept... makes no sense. They've been getting progressively worse for me and I'm off work now because of it, but it's mostly due to the fact that my job involves being on my feet for 9 hours, lifting, merchandising, and can be stressful since I'm a manager.

I'm surprised your OB is letting you go back to work after finding out you're actually shortening and dilating... as far as I know, I'm not, and I'm off work, but that could be because of the nature of my job. What do you do if you don't mind me asking?

Actually, I'm not sure if they will let me go back. My obstetrician will decide that tomorrow, I guess. I work as a waitress and as a substitute teacher, but it's the waitressing that was causing me all sorts of pain and contractions. No one around me thinks I'll be going back to work, but if my cervix hasn't changed, it could just be that it dilated early because of previous pregnancies. I dunno. It's so frustrating wondering what the heck is going on all the time.

Yeah it's probably best that you don't work... it could only get worse the more you work so it's probably not worth the risk. Hope you're resting for the time being and feeling better!

Yeah, I have a feeling the doctor might say the same thing, but you never know :) Getting lots of rest now though!!
