Me again!! 7 weeks and 1 day and still battling but even more determined not to quit.....

I have blisters on my left nipple which are very sore so I am giving it a break by pumping from that side and feeding from the other. My right side, touch wood, is fine so I am obviously doing something right on that one.

My question is whether there is anything wrong or bad about just feeding from one boob and expressing from the other? I'm assuming short term its absolutely fine, but my left side has always been the one to cause me problems so is this a viable longer term solution?

Thank you my bf guardian angels

:hugs:

Have you checked or ha someone check you latch on that side? Have you tried different holds? I'm just trying to think of ways to sort that rather than resort to pumping from one and feeding from the other. In answer to your question, it's totally doable but you might find yourself slightly 'lop-sided' as the pump wont drain that side quite as effectively as Cooper will drain the other.

:)

I've got a number which I'm going to call tomorrow. I got a fab booklet at baby massage yesterday which has a whole feature on breastfeeding support in my area. I want my blister to go before I even think about putting him on the boob but hopefully I can speak to someone and find out who my local person is.

The good news is that I am fully motivated and not going to let a blister stand in my way! I'm at the stage where its been sore for so long, to give up now would make me feel that getting this far was all for nothing.

The strange thing is that I do get days where I am pain free, I think I've cracked it and then the pain comes back. I'm not doing anything differently that I know of - maybe the pain periods just coincides with when he's having a growth spurt.

Anyone know how long I can expect the blister to be there?

Thou shall not be beaten

Aww bless you, I think you should get a medal for going this long when you are still in pain ! Luckily all my problems seemed to go after the first few weeks Im not sure if id of carried on if they hadn't.

Have you tried applying any of the nipple creams on the blister ? Im not sure if it treats blisters or not but I use one in the purple tube when mine are a bit sore and its bloody brilliant.

Not to sure about your original questionthough hun but I shouldn;t think it would be a problem ?

Thanks Juliette!

I was using Lansinoh too, gone thru 2 tubes and stopped using it a couple of weeks ago as it didnt appear to do much for me. I've got some of those shell things and the shields, tried the shield yesterday on the blistered side but it was still painful and Cooper most definitely wasn't impressed, his face was hilarious in fact!

The shells make my boobs such a ridiculous shape, they are most definitely only for home use!!

you should try aloe vera on ur blister! its good for cracked nipples but also works on blisters / cuts etc

you should be alright to feed from one and pump from the other but dont do it for too long or u'll end up with wonky boobies lol

x

If I have wonky boobies anyway will this straighten them out???

I got a blister on my right side and it was so painful but I kept feeding from that side. I found that when I latched her on if I pulled her head back slightly her position adjusted and it hurt less. It was gone after 4 days xxx

 to you for keeping going xxx
