Q's for mums who use nutramigen

1. how long was it before the sickness of your lo stopped? weve been on it 21 days also 2 weeks of dairy free breast milk before that. HEd stopped been sick with the dairy free breast milk but now the vomitting has started up again he is miles more settled with the formula as oppose to breats milk he used to ry all the time with breast i used to feed him upwards of 15 times a day :-/

2. when i have washed and sterilised my sons bottles they absolutly stink bad any advice on how to get rid of the smell of the milk :-/

3. The milk makes hes sick and his poos smell horrendous. Its so bad that if he is sick even only a small bit on his clothes we gag when we pick him up. It upets us so much o bath him every day sometimes twice if he gets stinky in the day but yeah it really really upsets us when he smells

Sorry no advice as my lo is on nutramigen for eczema not sickness. I actually think aptamil smells worse. I dont find nutramigen that offensibe may im just a bit weird lol

It doesn't stop the sickness at all. It's a really thin milk, so even my paediatrician said it won't stop the sickness. You could try adding a thickener?...

It does smell bad at first, but you get used to it. I haven't found a lingering smell from it?....
Also, poops are very very stinky! You just get used to that too! Although after 4 months on Nutramigen, LO still does ones you can smell from miles away. Gah. No way round it!

well ive bathed him today andits that bad i can still smell the milk it around his neckline its awful its like the smell is stuck to his skin or something the bottles have been scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed and sterilised but they still reek :-/

Yup I have a stinky sicky baby too! His poo is green and very offensive, his neck smells like feet although I am slowly getting used to that and is still vomiting on it! He has gaviscon in his bottles due to reflux but he actually seems to be getting worse! I think this is just the way he is going to be until he is weaned but that's going to be a task as he is cmpi! Oh the joys!! X x

Ah, I know what you mean about the neck smell. It's happened loads recently. It smells like feet! Presuming it's the sick gathering in folds?!.. Yuk!

Oh, so weaning hasn't helped then? My LO just seems to be getting worse with vomiting, cannot wait for the day I don't have to bath him or change mine/ his clothes 2 or 3 times a day! Nutramigen really isn't the best perfume!! X x

Gosh no, not at all. Vomiting is worse now. It's still milk she brings up, not food. Although occasionally both. Doctor said weaning would help. Paediatrician said that was nonsense. I'm sick of putting her in nice clothes only to have to change her shortly after

yeah weve given up on nice clothes we usually just use sleepsuits i only bother with nice outfits if we are actually going somewere that warrents it ive just bought a load of second hand sleepsuits so doesnt matter if they end up getting binned. N yep its his neck what stinks i was saying to OH smells like feet he was like dnt be silly but really does doesnt it its awful bless them we are using it for cmpi and reflux

The whole stinky bottle thing ( we are on neocate) clean the bottles with baking soda that seems to help. The barfing has eased off for us now we are giving him food the oatmeal helps loads at least for us. Just remember this won't last forever.

:/ we just started Similac Alimentum today and it smells horrible. I'm scared about his poos now...

And his GERD isn't fixing itself. Might have to thicken it too...
