Question about clearblue easy with smiley

Usually I use 'dip the stick in cup' method but this time on CD11 I peed on stick and I think I may have peed a little longer than recommended. I got smiley (I normally get smiley on CD11 or 12) but when I ejected the stick, there was a wavy horizontal dye pattern over it. We BDed plenty (from CD8-12, once every day). Four days later (CD15) I woke up in the morning to find loads of EWCM (more than I have ever ever seen) and now I am wondering if I got a false smiley on CD11. Has anyone experienced the same with their clearblue easy for ovulation detection? I'll really appreciate your response. Thanks!
