So for my next pregnancy (which isn't for a while) I want to have a more natural pregnancy and birth. I would really like to donate my next childs cord blood though. Can you still have a home birth and there still be a way to donate cord blood?

I think it's entirely dependant on the establishment that takes in the donated cord blood. Here in Canada, we only have only one public cord blood bank that I know of and it has SEVERAL rules in terms of who they will accept cord bloods from and one of those rules is that the birth must occur in a hospital. If you wished to collect the blood privately to keep for yourself however homebirth is perfectly fine.

Oh yes. CBR has a kit you can use at home. They are who we banked our son's blood with. This time I plan to bank half and donate half.

Yes you can take home birth cord blood. I think the kit is CBR or something like that. Ask your doctor or midwife about it! ;o)
