Ok, so DH's SA did come back normal. However, his motility is a little below average. Due to his high count though, the nurse said the motility wasn't that much of an issue. But I still want to try and improve his motility. Can anyone recommend any vitamins for this?

Below are his results

Volume: 3ml
Total Count: 144.8 million
Rapid moving: 23%
Slow moving: 17%
Normal cells: 38% (is this morphology??)

And she didn't mention anything about viscosity or anything. I am guessing this was a very basic test.

l carnitine is a good supplement for raising motility . My DH just started it a week ago but I hear it takes time to see improvement. .https://www.drbriffa.com/2010/08/19/l-carnitine-found-to-boost-sperm-quality-and-fertility/

I will be interested to see some replies on this topic. My hubby has a low count, we were told by the acupunturist that Zinc, Vitamin C and a really good multi vitamin is a good start (in conjunction with no alcohol or smoking). GNC vitamins are the best if you are buying off the shelf, so they tell me anyway.

Lisa is correct about it taking a while, the sperm cycle is 3 BLOODY MONTHS!!!! What a pain!!! Fingers crossed things get sorted for you :)

Wow, a sperm cycle is 3 months!? Yay for more waiting. Ugh. Well I just found out the 23% rapid moving sperm doesn't mean it is forward progression. So I have no clue how many are actually moving forward. I will have to do more waiting to find that out I guess when I see the FS.

Thanks for the tips on the supplements. I will look into them!!!

Hi ladies...

Im in the process of improving my oh SA. I'll detail below what we've done...

Sept: 5mil decent motility. This was with 'normal' habits, drinking alcohol occasionally an multiv its welman

Oct: 19mil with awful motility, can't recall what but v.low percentage. Like under 5% were normal

Jan: 19mil with high motility...great improvement! This was from no alcohol for two months and taking one 1000mg vit c in the morn an 1000mg vit c and the wellman at night.

I did quite a lot of research an apparently 2000mg of vit c can increase quality by 125% in 3months. You are only to take it for 3 months though. Another one is vit e but apparently not at the same time as vit c.

Our next SA is for April iui so will see what 3months of not drinking an vit c has done!!

Gd luck :-)

I never heard of Vitamin C helping with sperm! I will check into it. Thanks!

Good luck with your IUI!!!!

Thanks!

The vit c is quite a lot with 2000mg A day. It was hard to find 1000mg tablet. From my research if the body has too much vit c it will remove it in wee and diaerrhoea but my oh has been fine an with a better SA as proof!

Best of luck x

Yes 1000mg of vitamin c a day is good for increasing sperm health.

Interesting! Vitamin C is also good for your immune system. DH has been getting sick a lot this year (same with me), so I am sure he would have no problems taking this!

My hubby's sperm came back at 10% motility for 3 years while he was take Wellaman Conception. 6 or so months ago I moved him onto Zita West male conceptions tablets and the boost tablets and last monday his test came back at 50% motility and we got our first ever bfp that day (sadly since miscarried), but I would strongly recommend looking into the Zita West tablets.

Hi ladies,

My OH had two SA's which both came back with 20mil count and 35% motility, he gave up alcohol for 3 months and also took the following:

L Carntine
Wellman Conception
Vitabin B6
Macca

He had a 3rd test after the 3 month period and his count had increased by 4 million and motility was up to 50%. We are now waiting for IUI treatment instead of the IVF we thought we would orginally need.
