I had an emergency c sec 4 weeks ago after a 4 day back to back labour with no progression and a few other hiccups!

I appreciate that i need to be patient with recovering as it was quite a long labour and birth!! but now 4 weeks on at the site of my wound is tender and slightly red. I am actually more worried about healing within. I had 1 course of antibiotics for the wound and was oozing and inflamed, it looks a lot better now but it's still painful and not sure if this is to be expected or not.

anyone know when they were pain free post emcs??

I would get it checked out. I didn't have any pain at that stage. It was still numb from the nerves being cut. If you have had an infection before its better to be safe than sorry. Sorry to hear about your 4 day back to back, sounds horrendous! I had 12 hours of it and it nearly killed me!

I would also get it checked out, make sure that when you're showering etc that you let the wound get some air before dressing too to make sure that it is dried properly.

I'm 12 days post emcs and am not experiencing pain anymore. Still have a bit of a strange feeling around my belly and I am very aware that I'm not healed but I no longer have the discomfort that I did for the first week

Xx

My first was emergency and I got an infection after 3 weeks post surgery. I was sore and not myself until 3 months. It took me a long time

They say to watch for redness, warmth and swelling. Keep an eye on it and if it gets worse then go in right away. If there is red around your wound physically draw a line following the red mark. The next day you will be able to see if the red is getting worse or not. That's a little medical helpful hint they told me.

How long ago did you have the antibiotics and oozing? This could just be recovery from that. When I had mine at 3 weeks post it was like starting recovery all over again.

thank you, the antibiotics were 2 weeks post op and no oozing since but slight redness, it was more the feeling that was deeper behind the wound in the tissues or muscles. however over the last 2 days it has improved massively! my LO has only wanted to be carried and held so have been using sling which i love but noticed that after 20 min my pain was worse with her in the sling. however we have turned a corner as she now goes in her pram, so been out for some long walks with the pram and no sling for 2 days and it feels so much better :)
