I had my first section on friday afternoon i was home the next evening, i have painkillers but im not so sure theyre working tbh i know id be sore for a while but it feels as if my insides are like tearing is this the normal sort of pain to feel? I dont have stitches on my skin i think i was glued, im taking it as easy as possible sometimes the pain is just to much to move a inch though. Theres no infection as midwife has just checked

Any advice to let me know this is the right pain to be having

Thanks.

I had this feeling about 5 days after my section, I felt as though I could feel the wound tearing open (gross!) The doctor came to my house and checked and said it all looked fine, a week later and it was really sore and my OH checked it out for me and said it was really red and looked bad. Went back to the same doctor who then said I had a bad infection and put me on antibiotics. I ended up in hospital saturday morning because I had a but reaction to the antibiotics and they made me really sick! Had to stop taking them now and I'm cleaning the wound with hot salt water and hoping it clears itself up. I would keep an eye on it and if it still feels the same in a few days go get in checked out x

Hmm thanks, i cant really see whats going on down there anyway but someone will keep checking it, its been the same pain since i had the op so im hoping theres nothing wrong

Gosh, you went home the next day? Wow. I wouldn't even have been able to walk down the hospital corridor the next day, let alone leave the hospital!! I could barely stand upright, LOL.

I've had 4 c-sections, and I find them extremely painful for weeks. You're only on day 4!! I found that type of tearing pain very normal, like your insides want to tear apart. Well, in fact, they ARE torn apart, and are just barely stitched together. I read that the stitches they use on the inside, takes 3-4 months to dissolve, because that's how long it takes for everything to heal up enough to not need the stitches anymore to hold it close. Fortunately, you should not be in pain for 3 months.

Just rest as much as you can, and take it easy. The pain you experience is normal. You had major abdominal surgery. Give it another few days, and it should get better with time. Every day, you'll feel a little better. But remember, it takes at least 6 weeks to feel semi-normal again. Good luck! :hugs:

Yeah next day midwives said i was moving really good, by each day its getting easier walking its just the first move when i havent moved for a while it hurts But thanks for the info really reassured me

I took Ibuprofen for the pain, nothing else I took worked! It was an awful feeling. Think it lasted about 3 weeks. Not only have u been cut open and had a baby pulled out which is gonna cause bruising, everything that's bruised is then gonna try and contract back to how it was before. Ouch!

Take care :)

Xxx

It sounds like normal c section pain, but I'm surprised how fast they let you go home! I was in a lot of pain for a few days after mine and was quite happy to stay in the hospital for 3 nights to recover.

It might be worth asking your midwife for stronger painkillers if the ones you're taking are not helping. Hope you feel better soon!

I had my LB via c section at 11pm on Saturday and was home by 3pm on Monday. I had that pain for a long time. Ibuprofen and codeine are the best and u can take them together too. Codeine was brilliant! U can get paracetamol with codeine as an all in one tablet which are pretty good. X
