How do you find your formula mixes with room temp water?

Im planning on using Hipp Combiotic this time round, and it needs to be made with cooler than usual water (40c not 70c+). Ive emailed Hipp and they said that using room temp water is ok too, so Im planning on filling a few bottles with pre-boiled water, leaving them on the side and just adding the powder when baby needs a feed. I know there are alot of ladies who use this method and I was just wondering if the powder mixes ok. Do you get alot of clumps/lumps and do you need to shake harder? xx

I give it a good stir with a spoon with room temp water, and then swirl the bottle prior to feeding.

I do find room temp water can clump a little if not stirred enough. I can't shake anyway as I'm using Dr Brown bottles but on other bottles I've found shaking adds extra air/bubbles to the mix.

I just shake well. I've never had any problems. I've given all bottles and now food at room temperature

If you gently swirl you will get a bit of sludgy milk that might block the teat. I'm a super shaker and its just fine.

I also use dr browns and can't shake but find swirling works just fine. As long as I do it for long enough I don't get any clumps (I'm using hipp too).

i use room temp cooled boiled water too. i have the tommee tippee bottles and i shake very fast for about 15 seconds.
but lately the weather has gotten so cold so i heat up the water in the microwave for about 15 or 20 seconds now.
the milk goes very frothy from shaking so i make up the bottle a few mins before he needs it so the froth settles down. otherwise i have a very windy baby after feeding lol.

Thank you, that's great advise. We will be using TT bottles this time round too. x

Thanks for the tips. I've moved LO on to this formula for her follow on milk now as I've read good things about it

Wait... Why can't you shake with Dr. Brown's bottles? I do that all the time? :(

The formula powder we use needs to be mixed with 50°c water and it's never been a problem clump-wise. Just needs a good shake of course.

I always do this it saves loadsa time! Just give the bottle a good shake & all milk just disolves within seconds :)

If you shake with dr browns they tend to leak all over the place. Same with using very hot water in them and putting the straw and cap on- the hot water gets drawn up the straw and you get leaks

I use this method and I've never had any clumps, I shake the bottle for atleast 20 seconds.

Great thank you. What about bubbles? Do you find that it makes the formula extra frothy as you have to be more vigarous with shaking? Does this affect baby's wind? xxx
