Question for those who had a tear during labour

I had a 3rd degree tear during labour and had to get stitches... 11 weeks on and iv had two infections down there and the wound still hasnt closed

Anybody else had this? i would have thought it would have all been repaired by now!

Im going to see my consulatant tomorrow

Are you wearing too-tight underwear/clothing??

Try witch hazel. They even make witch hazel pads - I literally just stuck them on top of my stitched area and put a pad on so my underwear didn't get wet.

No I'm wearing maternity underware and living in leggings. I'll have a look for those pads

I had a 2nd degree tear but the stitches came lose before the tear had actually healed. The midwife said it didn't need stitching again and that it would heal on its own.

However I'm now 6 weeks pp and although it no longer hurts it hasn't healed. Gaping is the best way to describe things down there.

I'm getting a bit worried that I'm going to be stuck like this permanently

I had a serious tear as well, I am almost 8 months out and I feel totally normal again. It took a good amount of time! Sex was painful for about 5 months so I didn't do it much. By the time I got my iud six months postpartum things had fully healed. It was rough but worth it. My first was born by c section and I'd take a vaginal tear over that any day!
