Could you please let me know what kind of recovery time I'm looking at.
It's a bit crazy with both of my jobs right now, and I've only managed to get two days off (that's including the surgery day) - and even then I'm stretching it.

Is that going to be enough? How soon after it did ya'll go back to work?

I really have no idea what to expect

My Lap and Dye test is this coming Tues.

Ney, Ney

The recovery time purely depends on the surgery. My sil has a severe endometriosis and she felt terrible the whole week. Because to burn it off then need to constantly keep the gas in the system and that's what is causing all the discomfort. My bits were all fine and clear, so they only took few pictures and operation was over. The hospital signed me off for a whole week, but I think 3 days would be have been enough (post operation). Because I wasn't repeatedly filled in with gas, I had no shoulder pains or abdominal discomfort. It was only stiches itching while it was healing. However I'd say definitely have at least 3 days after the op at home. It's important to have a good recovery time, you'll fell all tender for couple of days afterwards at least! I don't know where you are from, what's your work like, but in UK they'd sign you off for a week anyway..

All the best Ney, Ney. I hope this will give you some answers! It's a very quick procedure.

Good luck!!!

Hi Ney Ney

I would agree with Hopeful - at least 3 days after the op day - I am a bit of a wimp but I found my belly to be really tender - I even found it difficult getting in and out of bed!

I also had ovarian drilling at the same time - don't think that made recovery any longer though

Good luck and hope your op goes well!! :hugs:

Hi hun,

had my lap on a thursday - it was clear - so I didnt have any problems after the op at all - on the day the anesthetic made me really sick - but apart from the nausea I had no paid whatsoever - I didnt need to take the pain killers they sent me home with - whereas the girl in the next bed to me who they had found had endo and blocked tubes needed more pain killers within about two hours of the op - so i think it really depends on what they find.
They day after (friday) my nausea was all gone and i felt absolutely no pain at all - i was a bit wary of my stiches so wore jogging bottoms rather than my jeans for the next couple of days - but I honestly could have gone to work the day after I felt so fine (although I wouldn't have wanted to have driven - and they do advise you to have company for 24 hours after the anesthetic so I had my Mum staying with me).

On the Saturday morning i was 100% and cleaned the house and went out in the evening.

i really do think everyones experience is different - but if you really do have to go back to work within two days and as long as they find out you are all OK i think you could manage it - although if you can manage to take longer off just in case it might be better.

Good luck hun,

Bx x :hugs::hugs:

Hi Ney-Ney,

I had my lap/dye/D&C done on a Tues and took the rest of the week off. They did find quite a bit of endo, and removed a polyp during the D&C so I'm not sure if that contributed to the pain but for me the first couple of days were rough...I did need to take the painkillers on time. I think it depends on what type of work you will be doing, even the next week I needed some help with lifting and found being on my feet all day was tough...but I have a very physical job working with animals, so being headbutted by a dog didn't help matters.
I hope all goes well, if you feel you can't work then tell your bosses...they cannot expect you to work so shortly after abdominal surgery!

I had to take pain killers only for a day but it was hard moving around for two days for me. I was fine by day 3 but I guess it was because I wasn't doing much :)

I did a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. Right after my surgery my tummy was in pain. They gave me a pain killer and it went away. I took one day off after that so was resting for 2 days. I didn't find it too terribly bad.

I had mine on a Friday and was they found mild endo which required some treatment. I was very sore when I came around and the drugs mad me woozy. I took the weekend and another 3 days off work. Felt a bit of a fraud on the Tues and Weds but went back for a meeting on the Thurs and actually felt quite sore from the stitches mainly and sitting up all day didn't really help. I think you may need at least one more day to recover but as everyone says, we're all different!

Good luck and hope the lap and dye clears you out and you get that elusive fertile period after wards!

i had a lap n dye they found both my tubes were blocked and closed and took me about 4-5 days to recover.

good luck

Thanks girls, I guess we'll have to play it by ear.

I appreciate your replies :hugs:

Another thing I wanted to ask was has anyone gone ahead with a Lap
even with thier AF? As you can see by my ticker my AF is ridiculously late, but
I've been getting signs the past couple of days that she may be arriving.....
When I rang my Dr they said "Well cross that bridge if we come to it" which is
no freakin' help whatsoever....

I was actually on my period during the surgery. I wasn't supposed to be. It came WAY early that month. I was super stressed out about family stuff so I had an 18 day cycle. I was worried they would have to reschedule, but they said it made no difference. However, it made me uncomfortable before going into surgery (I was too drugged and loopy after to care :haha:). Being stark naked (can't use tampon either) while on AF was odd. You are good though, I would go ahead and get it over with.

When I had mine, I went back to work about 4 or 5 days afterwards, and TBH, it was too soon. I was so swollen that I couldn't fit any clothes, and I had to wear a dress - which for me is not fun, and I was pretty uncomfey. I would wait 7-10 days, depending on your job. I have a desk job and I found sitting to be too hard.

I do have desk jobs...My "newest job" which is my fulltime one is pretty good and they've said if I need more time I'm ok. My second job, which is not so cool since I put two weeks notice in may not be so understanding, simply because they have the shits with me quitting...But I'll just call in sick anyway - not like they can fire me!! Lol

i had my opp on the thursday and then had the the following week of work. they did say to me originally 2 weeks but i was fine after a week, just abit sore and uncomfortable really

Hi Neyney, I had mine in January but I was also being examined for endo and scarring from PID turned out I never had the endo or ever had PID. To the point, I was off for 2 weeks and had to get DP to shower my wounds while sitting on the egde of the bath. Just be prepared to be off longer than you might anticipate, the doctor told me 3 days max. I watched everyone else come in to the ward and get ready for theirs ...and although I was 2nd, I was the last one out at 6PM because I was so sore they weren't sure if I should stay in or not. I had to phone emergency out of hours because the gas was pressing on my lungs and I couldn't breathe without it being agony. They told me to walk about and there was nothing except painkillers available. Just be prepared and ensure you have a lot of support because you really need someone in the event that you experience extreme pain afterwards. x

Good luck NeyNey! Hope all goes well. xx
