My friend recommended giving my LO some cooked quinoa for her constipation. Have any of you got any experience with this? Is quinoa a suitable first food or not?

I cycle her legs at every change, rub her tummy, gave her pears yesterday, orange juice with water and still no poo :(

Any advice would be appreciated :)

Oh no! Contipation is the worst. I hate seeing my baby uncomfortable. I'm not sure about quinoa, though I love it. It does seem it might be hard to digest.

We didn't have success with straight pears, but found pear juice (2 ounces a day) to be really helpful. I haven't yet tried it, but many of the ladies on this forum recommended pumpkin and said it really got their LO's more "regular".

Good luck :)

Thanks Noelle :) I'll try with some pumpkin tomorrow as she's just started eating! Do you make the pear juice yourself? It's just so awful to see them constipated :(

I'd recommend prune juice for constipation before Quinoa... Quinoa seems a bit "much" for a 3mo old digestive tract... but that's just me :)

Yeh, she's 5.5 months but I thought that also. She's only just started having a bit of fruit once a day and I thought grains etc was a bit much. I'll get some prune juice. This baby is going to poo like there's no tomorrow soon, I hope ;)

Ahhahahaha oops sorry LOL I have to learn to read the small font LOL!!!

well i know that black cherry juice works well for me so im guessing LO's too...prune juice does nothing for me

Prune juice does nothing for me also, just clears out the room lol! Pears do wonders for mu LO when he is constipated. He also loves his quinoa (had it today for dinner) but maybe not as a first food.
