Has anyone experienced this before? Any guesses as to what it might be?
It's only on the bottom of his feet and heels specifically. It showed up yesterday and is worse today. I'll bring him to the doctor tomorrow for it but I was wondering in the mean time if anyone else's lo had something similar and what it was.

Mine had hand, foot and mouth disease not so long ago, and the blisters on her palms and the bottoms of her feet looked a lot like this. I will see if I can find a photo.

With HFMD, you would usually see bumps emerging around the hands and face too, though they can get them other places (my LO's were hideous behind her knees), so there's no telling really where they will show up!

If your son has this though, he would probably have had a fever recently. Is this the case?

Seems I didn't take a picture of her palms or soles but the two blisters close together towards the end of her pointer finger look a lot like what I am describing - sort pf pearly white under the skin. They appeared gradually over the course of a couple of days and went away within a week. She didn't even notice she had them but was off her food a bit and had a horrible fever beforehand. About four weeks after they went away we noticed some of her fingers and toenails starting to shed as they grew in, which is apparently common - they just peeled off and again caused no issue.

Thanks so much meep for the pics and info. I went to the doctor today fully expecting them to say that, but it actually turns out that it is gianotti crosti. This is very similar (bumps/blisters that appear a little while after a virus).

I'll add that one to my mental bank for the future in case LO gets it and freaks me out!
