ok, me and leila have been breast feeding for 6 weeks 2moro, but she feeds ALL THE TIME!! she uses me as a dummy, but its at the point, i'm walking around tesco feeding her, and ive litrally fed her 10 mins before!! i dont know what to do! am i better off putting her on bottle?? she refuses a dummy. i really dont want to move to formula, as b/f suits us, any one have any advice? theres just no routine that we can get into as shes feeding constantly..

posted in weaning too, as my mum suggested baby rice?

She is probably going through the 6 week growth spurt, and I remember it being a hard one. Hang in there love, it will get easier soon. And she is way to young for rice cereal.

Yeah the 6 week spurt is a killer!!! Hang in there honey. Have you tried a dummy?? :D

yeh, ive tried avent, and the timmy toppee ones, like a nipple, she just refuses it then chokes on it, shes been like this since shes been born, not just a recent thing, i just feel like a lost cause...

Dont be silly! You're not a lost cause!! My baby hated the Tommee Tippee ones. Try a different one - she might not like the first one you try just because it says its nipple shaped!! My baby is breast fed and she likes the Avent ones. My friends baby is breast fed and he will only take the big cherry ones. Dont give up honey. If you know it's comfort feeding (which I could tell by her suck - it was more 'quivery') then a dummy might give you some respite. :hugs:

ive tried avent, ill try the cherry ones! see if they hlp,

thanks x

Give it a go but remember , they do have growth spurts and you are bang in the middle of one now. It's waaaay too early for baby rice hun - her stomach is too delicate and small, which is why she need the boobie milk little and often so it's digested easily and gentle on her young tummy. I know lots of mum's say 'well it never did my babies any harm' and that may be true, but if we ignored new information, we'd never progress.

Hang in there and feel free to rant here anytime :hugs:

Hi hun, Alfie wouldn't take a dummy either but he is soooo much better now, the 6 week growth spurt is the worst of them all. If you can hang in there hun it does get so much better i promise!!! Alfie used to suck for comfrt constantly but he doesn't now, unless he's poorly.

we were in the same boat, and my hv recommended the cherry shape dummy as its easier for them to keep hold of, and then change to the orthodontic shaped ones a bit later. as it happened for us the dummy has been an absolutelife saver, but she now wants it less and less.

I would not suggest the baby rice , mervs mum is right her tummy is still to delicate for that ..there are so many diff dummies you can try and eventually one will suit her ..sometimes it can take 1 week before the get used to it ..my son went through 6 diff kinds and ended up liking the NUK ones .

Hang in there hun growth spurts are a killer 1 I almost gave up BF cause of it but the lovely ladies here kept me going

tried a tommee tippee cherry dummy, she just gags :(

ive even tried tesco/asda own ones, ill try the nuk ones, where can i buy them??

im quite glad i stocked up on dummies b4 she was born... didnt think she'd need diff ones lol

Um dont know if you have wal-marts there but they carry those ..

are you trying the silicone or rubber ones?

I found max like the silicone better then the rubber ones

yeh , they silicone ones, i just sent out my step dad to gt one of everything.. lol x
