Really need advice on baby girl name!!!

My husband and I went to a movie last night and we both came out of the movie after hearing a very unique name, thinking it might be perfect if we have a girl.
I'm not 100% sure...we both come from strong Irish back grounds...

So I need your opinion!

Ailish (pronounced Ay-lish)

Thoughts?

I like it! I'm in the UK and it's not unheard of here but not too common either. And I think with that spelling people will get the pronunciation easily as well. Good choice!

I like it, but agree with the other poster that it doesn't quite go with your other names.
However I love pp suggestion of Orla! Beautiful names and goes lovely with your other children

That is my sister's name! I also have an aunt with that name, but hers is the traditional english spelling (Ailis).

We are in Canada as well (my dad is from England), and I have never known anyone else here with that name. My sister did get annoyed in school as people never knew how to pronounce it (she got called Alicia a lot!). As an adult, people tell me all the time how much they like Ailish's name.

I don't really understand why the name has to "go" with your other children's names. I'm pretty sure Ailish doesn't "go" with mine and my other sister's names (Jessica and Ashley) and that didn't affect my upbringing at all, lol. To me having sibling names that "go" together isn't a consideration at all when choosing a name. If you like it then go for it!

I think it is pretty and that you should go with it if you love it I kinda hate when people deter parents from naming their kid what they want to. There isn't one name in the world that everyone will like! It's your kid, you're the one that will be using it the most.
