I finally put Rose in hers last night, I have been worried about her arms getting cold as she is only meant to wear a long sleeved vest given the room temp.

She slept really well actually:dohh:, but when she woke for her feed I put my finger up her sleeve and her little arm was ice cold:cry: Her hands were too but I kind of expected that, did not want to put scratch mits on as she sucks her thumb but may have to as she is not too used to sucking it yet.

Her arms really were freezing, what are your babies like when you use sleeping bags? Do their arms get really cold too? What do you do about it?

Sorry for yet more questions, but I know you lovely ladies always give really helpful answers!:happydance:

Ps I looked into the bags with arms and came across some articles saying they are not necessarily safe heat and air wise so decided against it. Shame but I did wonder why most of the big companies only do bags without arms. I guess this is why?

When I used to put Josh in his i'd put a long sleeved vest plus a pj top on top, no bottoms. His bedroom was freezing though.

I put socks on my LO's hands (he can knock his scratch mits off) to stop them freezing!

Thanks for that - somebody gave us one with arms and I haven't used it yet because I wasn't sure about it. Think I'll put it at the bottom of the pile!

You could always put a pair of baby legwarmers on your LO's arms?

I am sooooooo paranoid about overheating her

They make legwarmers for babies Bec? Love it!:happydance:

i always put a vest and a baby grow with built in mits on my lo but then my oh and i quite like a cool room to sleep in, i always go by the rule i heard that baby should have one more layer on than you, so if i am in bed with my pj's on, i think my little one should have a vest and pjs x

I love your avatar Lisa, its so cute. Awwwwww :)

Edit- our room is usually about 19/20 degrees

Ellis sleeps in a grobag with just a long sleeve vest and she seems really comfortable in the night. Her hands are always cold but she seems quite happy. When she was really little she'd sleep with her hands above her head so they've never been warmed by blankets etc,she must be happy or she'd soon let me know. Anyway i wouldn't worry if i was you,Rose will let you know if she's not comfortable xx

Its perfectly fine for your LO to have cold arms :) if she slept well, she wasn't cold. I wouldn't worry.

I was thinking the same with Jac's hands as they are freezing in the morning..but i dont think it bothers him as he'll sleep for approx 12 hours...i think it bugs me more :dohh:

A long sleeved vest should cure the cold arms as thats what im using now.

Are there any sleeping mitts available for infants??

xx

Thanks ladies

I think its because i sleep with covers up to my chin and i would be uncomfortable with my arms that cold, but guess she was ok.

Still dont like it though:dohh:

Emily's hands are freezing in the morning even if she has had a long sleeve vest on...I can't bear them near me but doesn't bother Emily she sucks on them and doesn't flinch. It doesn't wake her either. I figure if her body is toasty, which it always is, then she is fine.

We haven't used our gro-bags yet for precisely this reason. Our room is ALWAYS warm - still between 20-21. According to the instructions, she should only be wearing a vest in that temp...it seems so little? At the same time, I don't want her overheating (am always paranoid about that) and she loves to kick her covers off / poke her feet out of any gap in sleep suit etc.

Not sure what to do, really! Guess could try one tog with a long sleeve vest?!

my hv always said to me aswell that just because her hands are cold doesnt mean she is, and to go by the temp of the back of her neck.

penguin77 i always just put a pair of socks on my little ones hands if she hasnt got a baby grow with built in mits on, i did this with my first aswell, scratch mits would always fall off in the night!
