So.. irresponsible me could not say no last night :/...... OH and I dtd....unprotected....using only the pull out method and relying on breast feeding to keep the unwanted spermies away. It was 4am I just got our daughter to sleep OH had to be to work by 9 he asked for oral because 'it will help him sleep better' and that turned into....dtd. Guess I should have expected it since it had been 5 months since we last did it. Anyways I ebf on demand my daughter is 7 weeks....should I been any kind of worried? I'm asking because I certainly will make OH get the morning after pill...I don't want any unplanned pregnancies! (and I know I have another post about bc.....I couldn't help it my OH is just so good looking I fell right into it) Sorry if I got too into detail I tend to do that.

That's a difficult one. Breastfeeding is not a reliable contraceptive because if your baby misses a feed (sleeps for longer) its deemed unreliable. I would maybe give your doc a call for advice. I'm not sure if the MAP is safe with bf. There are women who use bf as a contraceptive successfully but as health professionals we're told to advise not to rely on it as so many women end up pregnant again v quickly by accident! The morning-after copper coil will likely be an option for you but act on this ASAP xx

I had my 6 week check up this morning and they have to get approved for the copper iud so I have to wait like 2 weeks. So now my fingers are crossed that I didn't just f%&* up all my future plans for one night of romance. Mistake will never happen again.....I feel so dumb for even taking a risk while my daughter so young!

Thank you for the advice!

Breastfeeding can be reliable, BUT even in the most reliable breastfeeding on demand, our bodies don't always agree. I would get the morning after pill.

Wouldn't 3 days be too late for the morning after pill? My OH is at work til after midnight and tomorrow would be 3 days after.

I know this is controversial but if he's sure he pulled out, I wouldn't worry too much. I used WD with my ex and my hubby for years..yes I got pregnant once, but with all the times we did it, that's a pretty good rate. lol.

As far as Plan B, it will still be somewhat effective after 3 days, but not as much as the first 24 hours (obviously.)

Yeah - too late for MAP. Is there not a sexual health/family planning clinic you can go to for an on-the-day appointment? We have one in my city that does a drop-in. Hope you get everything sorted =)

3 days isn't to late, but the effectiveness of it is less..

Thank you 9jawife I know the chances are smaller with breast feeding and pull out being just one time but everyone keeps freaking me out telling me how super fertile they were after having there first..both my sisters got pregnant soon after there first but no one I know ever breastfed so I'm praying that saves me.

Nursesooz we have w planned parenthood but they don't allow same day appointments or walk ins unless your getting a pregnancy test done...which is dumb they used to have walk ins every Monday and Wednesday.

Jesspape ill have to research and make sure it wont affect breast feeding if not ill probably get it I can't emotionally handle a pregnancy right now plus a very needy mommies girl and definitely not a newborn and a one year old both breastfeeding...even the thought stresses me out!

We used WD for 10 years without getting pregnant (we knew there was a risk and were okay with that). The first 2 times we had unprotected sex without WD I got pregnant both times so I guess it was working for us. Plus breastfeeding offers a lot of protection so I'd say you were pretty safe, okay not 100% but even birth control isn't 100%. I have several friends who got pregnant on the pill. If you EBF and never go more than 4 hrs between feeds in the day, and 6 hrs at night, dont have your period back yet and dont supliment you have something like 99.5% protection in the first couple of months and 98% until 6 months. Birth control isn't much better.

Thank you BunnyN that's very helpful. I ebf and she cluster feeds all day and sleeps 5 hours at night and has a 3-5 hour nap in the early morning. Lately ive been trying to get her up more in the night so she'll eat less in the day and go to bed a bit earlier than 3 am. (that doesn't matter though) I mean 99.5% plus WD is pretty good chances so now im not AS worried...but im definitely going to be worried until I get the iud put in.

But no more dtd with out CONDOMS lol definitely getting some for just in case purposes.
