So on Tuesday my coworker came in from lunch and said you have to try this fruit...it's called a Pluot and it's an apricot/plum hybrid that she got at Sam's Club. I tried it...it was delicious...and I ate the whole thing. On Wednesday morning I was on Facebook and saw an article that someone posted about a recall of like 4 different fruits that were shipped to Sam's stores nationwide due to a risk of being contaminated with Listeria.

Needless to say... I freaked out. I called my doctor and spoke with the nurse for quite some time. She assured me that the possibly contaminated shipments were weeks ago and the stores would have surely pulled the recalled products from the shelves by the time my coworker bought the Pluot. She said that stores get recall information long before the general public does and that more than likely have nothing to worry about.

Has anyone else eaten one of these recalled fruits? The nurse eased my fears quite a bit but I am still a little worried.

I ate some peaches from one of the stores around the 4th. Got really sick very quickly that weekend (short but crazy painful digestive issues), but no clue if related. Had a scan soon after, and things looked fine...

Yes and I freaked. But read this.. should put your mind at else.

Same here! I ate plums from Sam's club and they were also part of that recall. And I ate several. I haven't been sick at all but it still worries me. Especially since it says it can take 30 days to cause an active infection. Scary when you read what it can cause in a pregnant woman. Fingers crossed that we are both okay

When you got sick did you tell your doctor about the fruit and the recall? The nurse made a note in my chart about it so she said JUST IN CASE I happen to get sick that will be one of the first things they check for.

no- I figured (and still think/hope) it was because I had a ton of spicy foods that night... I didn't hear about the recall until earlier this week (it's been almost 3 since eating it), and haven't been to the doctor since then.

Just read this and it does make me feel better! Thank you!

Omg I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Yes although the recall were for shipments in June 1st it was also through July 2 or 12 th can't remember I eat peaches nectarines and plums regularly and from that company but never in the package just picked from the bunches I was almost in tears I've checked the baby with my doppler 3 to 4 times a day since the article baby has been moving and I'm always sick so nothing usually about that. How could this happen. I'm so glad I wash my fruit before I eat it. These companies need to do better.

To help reassure you all a little, I had listeria food poisoning that led to me being hospitalised as a teenager, and the reason that we are told to avoid listeria items of food is that the food poisoning it produces is particularly nasty, you would definitely know if you had it. So if you haven't been ill then there is basically nothing to worry about.
