Recommended formulae to give to a newborn?

Which brand would suit a newborn?

My friend who is a midwife advised me that they all contain the same ingredients so just to go for Cow and Gate as it's cheaper. Apparently Aptamil gives them stinky spew. It states quite clearly on the box if it can be used for newborn

All stage 1 or first milks are appropriate for new babies. All the brands are the same, unless they are dairy/soy free or hypnoallergenic (for babies with allergies - if you don't have any, you don't need these), so I would just choose whatever is affordable to you and always in stock wherever you normally do your food shopping. Some are marketed differently and will be a little more expensive because of that marketing and branding, but the content is the same. So pick whichever looks good and is easy to buy because you'll want to make sure you can easily buy it whenever you need it at wherever you normally shop.
