I got pregnant on my first try with at home insemination. I was shocked because this came after a very painful (but incredibly light) period. When I got the positive test I was so certain that was just a harsh implantation, perhaps dreaming double. I started feeling morning sickness immediately. I was even unable to eat ANYTHING (except for Taco Bell). It wasn't until a week after the symptoms began that the test was now NEGATIVE. Elevated HCG betas showed I WAS pregnant but they called this a chemical pregnancy. I got pregnant on my first try with IUI (clomid + hcg injection) following a five month period of NO such luck but AGAIN it wasn't until after a very short and painful period. My Betas were tested so much I looked like a junkie littered with track marks. My beta fluctuated 21, 23, 30, 12.. not pregnant. HAS ANYONE had something like this happen to them? I can GET pregnant but the longest I have been pregnant is 6 wks (granted the betas are MUCH lower). What was the cause, the diagnosis, the cure, etc etc etc?? I am on a TTC break right now but I want to get back into the game very soon! I just can't seem to figure out WHY this is happening!! I fear I will never carry.

Why do I not get a positive until AFTER I lose the baby... why does my HCG not rise?

Not an expert and two chemicals aren't entirely uncommon but I've read a lot of times when women experience repeated chemical pregnancies it is due to shortened luteal phases. I believe that means when a woman ovulates late in her cycle it can mean that the uterus doesn't have time to build up enough lining so even though she conceives, the embryo has trouble implanting. Thefore, the woman gets a positive pregnancy test and can even begin symptoms but then the embryo doesn't imlant and thus you have a chemical.

I know with my two chemicals, I did ovulate late in my cycle due to messing up my birth control pills.

I've had 5 chemicals. And loads of testing. Mine is down to egg quality. Clomid has hopefully fixed that!
