Hi ladies,

I am predominantly feeding LO with breastmilk but have incorporated a bottle of aptamil a day for a couple of weeks now. Over the last few days I have noticed after every bottle feed and even the little bit of baby rice I give her in the morning with a little bit of aptamil mixed in with it that she come's out in red blotches around her mouth. It doesn't bother her, calms down after a few hours and it doesn't seem to have any other effect on her (no blotches in the mouth or dodgy tummy etc). If it is the milk I'm just wondering why now? I gave her aptamil for a little while when she was about 3 months and she never got these red blotches then. I'm wondering whether to carry on with the milk a little longer, see what happens, or change to another formula brand straightaway? Opinions please. Thanks in advance :flower:

hi, it sounds the beginning of an allergic reaction, as my son had blotches over his body especially his face but he got it really bad and was swollen all over. maybe change his milk to something else? hope this helps xxx

Thank you broodylocket. Thought I wasn't going to get a reply at all and that maybe I was the only one on here where my LO has reacted that way to aptamil. Was your little one on aptamil? What is he on now? x

Hi,

Our little one had similiar problem today, he is just over 5 months now and apart from a few bottles of formula milk at hospital at time of birth he hasnt really had any formula milk. we gave him 90ml of ready made carton 3 weeks ago and he was fine and then we bought some Aptamil First milk powder which we gave him today with exact measurements but as soon as he had this milk he started to develop red blotches and small spots all over his body within in an hour.

We took him to A&E where Pediatrition advised that he may be alergic to cows milk. They have now sent off some bloods to lab to test for some allergies which we will wait for in next few weeks.

I thought it maybe something in Aptamil which he may be allergic to (it contains fish oil i think) but i will wait to hear from the specilist and report back.

Hope this helps
