Im currently 39+5 with #4 (ticker is a few days out!). I've been having latent labour for the past few days with contractions starting and stopping. I've booked a reflexology session for tomorrow lunchtime in the hope that it might encourage labour to continue. I'm having a home birth and slightly concerned that I'll "miss my dates" and be pressurised into a medical induction at 40+10.

Has anyone had any success with reflexology??

Thanks

Hi chattyb,
I've had 3 reflexology sessions over the past 7 weeks, once to turn a breach baby and the other two just because I enjoy it. My hypnobirthing instructor does my reflexology and she tends to do hypnobirthing scripts at the same time, like fear release scripts. I've seen research which suggests a few reflexology sessions throughout pregnancy has beneficial effects on labour, even if it doesn't get things started. I'm convinced it turned my breech baby too!
I'm having another session on weds purely for the purpose of getting things started. I'm in a similar position to you, I'm starting to stress that I won't get my mlu birth. I won't let them induce and will opt for monitoring as long as the baby and I'm ok. But there is only so long I think I'll be happy to wait for! And I know I'll be guilt tripped/ pressured into induction at some point.

You can't really induce yourself. You can decline induction if you want.

I'm looking forwards to it from a "last chance pampering" point of view ... At the very least, it will be relaxing :). If it helps to encourage things along, that's great! If not .... I'll have a few more days to organise some more "last chance pampering". I'm booking a massage for Thursday with no other agenda than to spoil myself. If Fidget has arrived by then, I'll postpone it for a few months lol

I think it's good booking appointments too, Sod's law that the baby will come when you have commitments! X
