Does anyone elses baby refuse to take a bottle? I really want to express and give Tabitha a bottle so that i can ride again, but she wont take one. When i try she screams and spits it back out and chokes and sometimes throws up :(

Anyone got any ideas?

What number teat has it in ??most bottles come with number 2 in them and as she hasn't had a bottle before this may be too quick x

It was a newborn one from tommie tippee... i think my OH got it so i guess who knows
Thank you :)

In that case i would say keep persisting, have you got the closer to nature teats? x

you could try these? https://www.breastflow.co.uk/products.htm

I was just going to suggest the ones awife posted!

Or any of the bottles that have a wider nipple that is more breast like..

Good luck with riding, the first time I went I took Vic for a nice long gallop... My legs killed after but it felt so nice to be free again!

Sigh... Wish my horse was ridable :(
Anyways, I have teats that look and work exactly like a nipple. But savannah has never had a problem with taking a bottle. Good luck though!

Yes! Poppy has had 1 expressed bottle feed a day from about 5 weeks but now refuses it. Have tried changing teats but she still won't take it. We use Tommee Tippee closer to natute bottles but another thread on here suggests trying the MAM bottles as people have had more luck with those. Hope they work for you!

Hi Blob!

There are a few of us havng struggles with LOs taking bottles at the moment. I too am struggling.

So far, I have tried the following bottles: NUK, Avent, Closer to Nature, Breastflow, Medela and nothing has worked. I have tried with EBM and water but...nada!

My next port of call will be MAM bottles/teets as Cupcake and a few others have suggested that these may work.

There are a few good sites which offer hints on getting LO to take a bottle which you could take a look at, here's one:

https://hubpages.com/hub/Tips-on-How-To-Get-A-Breastfed-Baby-to-Take-a-Bottle

Good luck with it and keep us posted, I will do the same! x

Seth will only take a bottle of someone else, maybe he can smell my milk. I use some tomee tipee closer to nature bottles.

Thanks rawife, i'll read that... :)

Ryder, i'm going to DIE when i go out the first time Vades is lazy as hell and i now havent ridden for almost a year  he has his first comp in like 3 weeks OMG ha ha ha!!

Sarah88 how come you cant ride your horse? I'm going to have to go to shops and buy all the ones i can find

Bec L, Jemima Hmmmm... i have a feeling Tabs will be like that, she sucks on everything else, hands, arms annnything, yet bottles she spits out and hates :( Guess its a compliment to us though in an annoying kind of way :)

Masi, i got OH to try and she still hates it, GAH

Good luck with the competition! I sold my dressage youngster when I was about 20 weeks pregnant. I don't have te time or inclination to start riding again, plus I hate riding schools!

I'm kinda lucky and have all mine at home :)
But i'm kinda having a hard time making myself get back out there.. we had our first trip out in the lorry today tho  Was quite fun

It'll be hard to get back into it in the winter I imagine! Much better when the weather is warm and the nights are light! If you're ever competing up this way (moray) then give me a shout. :)

i started a thread about this as my baby wouldn't take a bottle
i tried the tommee tippee but it didn't work, so my daycare babysitter suggested MAM bottles. DH tried to give it to him and it didn't work but then i succeeded after 4 attempts and the next day the babysitter succeeded in giving him 100 mls and today she succeeded again 100 mls. So definitely try the mam bottles.

I tried all sorts of bottles and teats and ended up using the ones that came with my Medela breast pump!! Andas someone else said, try getting your OH to do it as you smell of breast milk and that means boobies!!!!
