I have used the ovulation test srtips since August of last year and must confess from day 9-10 of my cycle I ensure we BD at least every other day and always make sure when I get the positive for the LH surge that night and the day after. OH thinks I should stop using the ov sticks. He thinks they don't work.

Am I doing this right or not? I don't want to lose a month if I don't test and miss the fertile window...

not everyone responds to POAS, have you tried anything else like temping?

hi i wonder this too hun..

i started using tesco own make opks in dec 08 & then about march 09 i satrted using the clearblue ones as wanted to see a smiley face as found i was wondering if the line was darker enough & i was getting confused lol.....ive always got my lh surge/smiley face on same day every mth apart from the last 2 mths where it was a day earlier than expected ( im thinking the clomid im on must be bringing it slightly forward).....so basically for 12/13 mths we have made sure we have dtd lots leading up to ovulation & then always on ovulation day & day after....still no bfp :( we have tried pre seed, epo, robitussin cough medicine, dh has been on wellmans conception pills since sept 09....maybe i shouldnt trust the opks anymore & just go with the flow & dtd when we want to rather than when we should do???? but i know in my head i would still be counting the days & thinking oh this is the day i would of got my smiley face lol....

hoping that the lap & dye i am having on 3rd feb will give us some answers as to y we are not conceiving.....xxx

i tried using those for 12 months. i always detected a surge but my problems went deeper - uterine abnormality, endo, firbroid, acidic CM.....maybe its time to have a thorough check up?

Thanks all

Alchemist - we know what the problem is sadly. TTC for 20 months and got checked out last summer. Not enough normal sperm - only 2%. I have no underlying problems whatsoever as long as I keep my stress levels down. I thought knowing I was ok I could rely on the ov sticks but been using them since August of last year.

I haven't tried temping Muncho - I don't know where to start on that one.

im really interested in getting my cm checked out for acidic cm.....how do i do this?? im not due to see my fertility specialist til march......i would of been on clomid for 6 mths then. having my lap & dye done in 9 days. xx

Ask them to do it after the lap anyways as if you have endo it affects the cm. They will trigger your ovulation and then you BD that night. They check out the cm the next morning to see what happens to the sperm. It was very interesting. Mine was acidic and they got mw to douche with bicarb. then checked the next morning. all was good with the little guys which means they dont recommend IUI initially. I will try a few month (with douching of course)

Thanks all

Hi Artemis, Temping is easy providing that you wake up at a similar time everyday. A website called fertility friend is quite helpfull, there is a link in my signature. You can sign up to basic membership for free. Just get a digital thermometer with 2 decimal place accurancy (easily found on amazon) and take your temp as soon as you wake everyday. The website will letyou plug in you numbers and get a nice graph. You will clearly be able to see when you have ovulated.

i dont temp as i would find it too stressful. Have you tried the digital ones with the smiley face, they worked for me? they are more expensive but more reliable..

mine was too acidic, i found out because i had to have tests for IVF, HIV etc and i got some tablets and some vaginal wash.
You can get it tested at a sexual health clinic. Your gp or hospital will be able to give you details. You could always try eating alkaline foods as well..
