Will be 2 years in May that I had the implant put in and I am going to have it out! Had enough of all the side effects now...

I used to just need to call up the Milton Keynes sexual health clinic and book an appointment when they had one. Now I have to ring at 9am sharp two days before I want the appointment, which would be Monday morning whilst I am at bloody work. I mean, talk about inconvenience!

I am now too old to go to Brook and they don't do removals at my doctors surgery.

Can't wait to get the blasted thing out!!!

Hope your able to get in soon! What a pain...

If you don't mind me asking, what side affects did you have? My SD was diagnosed with endometriosis- and she's only 16 and put on the pill to help her hormones/pain. Which is fine- but becuase she's only 16 she forgets to take it! Ugh. Her doc recommended the implant- but hubby and I are against that (especially at her age)- but she's not happy we don't agree. She's Ok- she knows we are doing what we feel is best for her... but she says "oh, the doc said side affects are rare and she recommends it a lot for teenagers because they are more forgetful"?! Um... to me, that seems silly, We just told her to keep her pills with her car keys. I was on the pill at 17 and remembered! Rarely forgot.

Anywho- I don't know the side affects but started to second guess my choice... I only remember how it used to be when it was newer years ago!

Hope all is sorted soon! :hugs:

Well I have now had it for coming up to two years. In the beginning the side effects were basic. A bit of spotting and then no periods, that was it.

Now, all of a sudden (in the last few months) it's gone from increased appetite (I'm honestly not just saying that, I just cannot make myself full) bizarre cravings (like pregnancy) bloating, period cramps, severe clotting (had to go to hospital as clots were coming out the size of golf balls!) and heavy bleeding. And all the doctors can say to me is 'oh it'll settle down in them...'

As you can imagine, it isn't nice and I just want it out. Luckily I have managed to get an appointment for next Wednesday to have it removed!

I hope you and your daughter come to an agreement but I can understand your concern. Unfortunately I too was once a cocky teenage and refused to take my pill wen I was put on it when I was 15 (mine was due to heavy periods) and then when I started having sex at 18 I changed for a more long term solution.

Good luck sweety xx

Thanks for the info- I really think she just needs to try another approach and do whatever she can to take it daily. It's for her HEALTH and if she goes days and forgets, her endo pains can get bad... she knows this. She doesn't do it on purpose, she just get's flakey! Go figure- so, I know she just wants that easy out- what teenager doesn't!? LOL. But I also know she can do this. Plus, even if I did cave (as I originally said I would at least *think* about it)- her Dad was straight up HELL NO! haha.

Thanks again- and hope it's all sorted soon. NO FUN having all those side affects :hugs:
