I was making my shopping list and it just occurred to me that I have can't remember how often I am suppose to change my pump parts. Anyone know how often you're suppose to change the membranes, connectors and shields? I pump about 6 times a day.

Thanks!

Not sure on time scales but i'm struggling to find a supplier of spare parts. I have a medela swing that i will be using in a couple of weeks so if anyone knows where i can get a new shield/bottle, i'd be very grateful!

I was told to replace the little white circles (those are the membranes, right?) every few months, but I only pump 2-3 times a day while I work. I think if you're pumping 6 times a day, you should replace the membranes every 2 months or so for optimum performance. I don't think you ever need to replace the hard plastic parts (shields/connectors/etc.) as long as you are keeping them clean, but I'm not sure on that. I've used the same shields and bottles that came with my pump through 2 kids now (I mostly use an ameda pump though, not sure if that makes a difference).

I think using it that much then every couple of months but check the membrane every week or so for the slightest rip!

I just had to buy a new tube as oh threw mine away (grrr) and got it for about £4 I think from thehealthandbeautyshop.co.uk it was a lot cheaper than other sites and they sell bottles an stuff an it arrived really quickly!

From what I understand only the membranes need to be changed. Mine fell into the sink (after I'd been pumping twice a day for 3 months) so I replaced them and BAM..I was pumping 2oz extra every day. This is a LOT for someone like me .

Toys r us in Canada sell all medela accessories. Membranes, different sized shields, bottles etc.

Thanks ladies I phoned Medela and they actually said that the membranes and valves should be replaced every 3 months but that other parts did not need to be replaced unless they were damaged.
