HI ladies,

I was wondering how you deal with RLS during pregnancy. I have tried magnesium, bananas, cold compresses ( the only thing which seem to help a bit ), putting pillows under my legs, soap ( !), stretching, moving and not moving during the day and every single night I am slowly dying from pain. I cannot sleep and I am running out of ideas.

Any suggestions ?

I hope you can find something! I was on Mirapex before I got pregnant, but stopped taking it as there isn't any proof whether or not it is harmful during pregnancy and there were some developmental problems during animal testing. I will get back on it once the baby is born and I'm if I'm not able to breastfeed again. The only things I've tried that you haven't that seem to have help slightly is leg massages(DH gives them when he can, or I do it myself) and hot showers with a massager shower head(I never use the hot water on the rest of my body, just my legs) Most nights it takes the edge off enough that I can bear it and fall asleep.

Thanks Ashersmomma - I will try the hot water. Last night I have tried rubbing in some coconut and lavender oil and it seemed to help a little bit . I will try to combine the two ideas tonight :)

I found just slightly rocking side to side until I was sleepy enough to go off quickly, I was generally in bed before oh so it wasn't an issue to do it. Luckily I only get it if I'm really tired or laid in a position my body doesn't want but I feel ur pain!!

The only thing I find that helps is lying on the floor and putting my legs right up against the wall, with cold tea towels on them!!! My OH laughs at me every night when I do it!

Mine had been twitching, that has another name I think, involuntary movements in sleep or something, but it didn't hurt, it was just irritating, like a dog, then last night my husband started giving me a leg massage and I went through the roof when he touched my calves and he found these ping pong ball sized lumps on either side on both legs. He's massaged them out a bit for me and I did OK last night. In the other 2 pregnancies I got horrendous leg cramps that would wake me at 2am screaming and my husband had to rub them out while I screamed and cried in agony so hoping regular massages will help prevent them.
