How do you feel about the spellings of Rhys? I prefer the traditional Welsh form Rhys but my mom says that's horrible to do to a child because his name isn't spelled phonetically. It's only 4 letter though, how hard can it be to learn?

Hubby is pretty set so far on this for a boys name.

Rhys Allen (Husband's middle name) Lafevor (surname)
Rhys Christian
Rhys Elliot
Rhys William

What do you ladies think?

I definitely prefer the traditional Rhys spelling xx

I prefer Rhys too, I think it's clear how its said etc. we had this on our list of boys names, out of your list I prefer Rhys Elliot or Rhys William x

Rhys is lovely, this spelling only.

Rhys Elliot
Rhys William

to me it looks like "rise" , and in the us people use it more for girls. spelling it reece or reese

Rhys.

certainly not reese like the candy.

Definitely traditional Rhys. Enough people know it's pronounced Reese, I think. And those who don't will learn quickly. It's not spelled so oddly that the sound differs a lot from how it looks.

I like Rhys Elliot or Rhys William

I've personally never met a girl named Rhys...especially not with that spelling and I live in the US.

Rhys, definitely.

Reece looks wrong and overly trendy to me, and Reese is chocolate or a surname.

It's common enough over here (England) for everybody to know it anyway.

Rhys ! Rhys - it is of Welsh origin, and the meaning of Rhys is "enthusiasm". Native Welsh form of Reece. Actor Roger Rhys. Good ! :flower:

Rhys definitely. And I think it's a great name not used too much at the moment.

pretty sure:

Rhys is masculine

Reece is feminine

I grew up along the road from a boy called Rhys Elliott
