I was told to give this a try for the times that I use bottles and am wondering if anyone else has tried this or what people think about it.

My parents used to do this with my brother because even after a full bottle he'd still be hungry and it thickens it up, they called it 'cheating' hehe, but apparently it works and your baba will be lovely and full!

I have tried it now for a couple of feeds and I don't think she likes it? But she had also been really fussy in general wanting booby??? What the heck?

We'll use formula to mix the rice cereal when we start Hannah on it (haven't yet and probably won't for another month at least) but we'll feed it to her with a spoon :D

Never tried it but I have heard mixed things- one that it'll make your baby nice and full and sleep aaaaaaall night long (good) and another that mixing it in a bottle means your baby can choke easily on it (bad)

your definatly not supposed to put anything in a bottle its very dangerous your health visitor will tell you this... but i know loads of people that have done it but personally i would not do it i always fed from a spoon

I agree - never put anything that isnt liquid in a bottle as it is a choking hazard. baby wont expect it when sucking.

Will have to talk to the health nurses about that. I have been putting about a teaspoon in a 6oz bottle

We did this at the preschool and to help the pre mature babies who were under weight gain weight. Never had a problem and all plumped up!

i would definatly have a word with your health visitor. I know mine said definatly no way its a choking hazard and also something to do with the milk not being the correct concentration so being bad for the babys gut.

Im not sure wether you mean putting the rice into the bottle of formula or putting forumla into the rice

Anyway dont put anything into the bottle as its a danger for choking.

And its fine the put forumla into the rice and mix up and spoonfeed that way :)

I will be seeing them thursday and have told OH to stop until at least we talk to someone. Thanks for all the feed back. Will update you all with what they say

i agree with the others you should use a soft rubber spoon. Also generally they advise rice cereal from 4 months old at least where i come from.
