Have applied to buy our house and now received the valuation and we want to go ahead with purchase. Does any one know the best places to approach for mortgage? Oh has poor credit due to ex wife running up arrears in previous mortgage. Also house Will be in both names however as i am sahm do i need to be on mortgage or can that just be in oh name...?

Assuming you're in the uk, the best thing to do is tey different banks/lenders as they all can have different affordability criteria. As a SAHM you don't have to be on the mortgage, but may want to if you're not married so that you have rights if your relationship ends. If you have any income you want to be taken into consideration in terms of affordability then your name would need to be on it as well xx

Thankyou... Yes am in the UK. Property would be in both names on deeds as i am the tenant and is my discount. Not married but Will be in 5 weeks... :). I just don't know if i need to be named on mortgage. I have no income and also have health issues so as i can't contribute it doesn't seem worth it. We have a 45% discount and oh sees that as my contribution to the property...

If you want to be on the deeds as a co owner of the house you will need to be on the mortgage :flow: I would try a mortgage broker for good mortgage deals, I saw one at Your Move and would really recommend the idea.

Banks aren't the best. You're better off speaking to some independent brokers, such as Charcol. Just look online for independent mortgage broker uk.

You will struggle if you are not working and your partner has bad credit, you may be able to get a mortgage of some kind but best bet is if YOU find a job and work for at least 3 months so you get 3 payslips and you do it yourself x
