I'm having some issues with my milk supply at the moment and attempting to build on my stash. I can't seem to pump anymore than 1 oz from both breasts right now , so my question is, can I pump 1 oz into a bottle and leave it out at room temp. until my next pumping session, in 2 hrs.?? So that I can at least freeze a 2-3 oz bag rather than a 1 oz bag?....Or can I refrigerate my 1 oz bottle and simply add the milk from my next session into it???? I read somewhere that you should not mix cold milk with newly pumped milk..something about Bacteria building up.

TIA

I hope thats not the case as my mw who specialises in bfing said it was fine to add new milk to earlier expressed milk and keep it refrigerated. I add the freshly expressed milk to my earlier stash that's been in fridge. I was also told it will keep for 5 days in the fridge. I would assume also that once its frozen any bacteria would b killed off anyway?! X

It's can be an issue with mixing temperatures. If you put the pumped milk in the fridge and combine it when cold you shouldn't have any problems.

I would keep it in the fridge and add the new stuff to the refrigerated milk, then freeze.

I put the newly fresh milk in the fridge once it's cold I either add it to the refrigerated milk or to frozen milk. I try not to mix within a 3/4days.

I still can only pump 1oz off each breast at a time & that's only at night time or if I give LO an expressed bottle
