Yes I know its a bit premature lol

But what do you guys think of Rowan or Ruari/Ruaridh? For a boy obviously. We moved down south but I'm scottish and I'd like to keep the names gaelic.

Honest opinions please! ( Oh and Ruari is pronounced roo ree not rory)

Oh and any middle names you like with it? xxx

I adore Rowan, it's classy and will age well, plus whats not to like about being named after a lovely tree with berries?

I've never heard Ruari before but it's nice, much nicer than Rory imo

Ruari would definitely be on my shortlist if it didn't totally clash with my last name...

I like Rowan too... would you pronounce it ro-wan on ra-wan? I've hear both and think both are nice - you'd probably get people pronouncing is ro-wan most often though...

I love Rowan but would have thought it's a girl (probably because I know one). Not a huge fan of Ruari myself, I much prefer Rory.

Thanks girls :) I think I would say Row ( like a boat) an not row ( like an arguement) an. If that makes sense lol! Yeh I think people are more likely to say it row like a boat an down here and it's just easier! And yes it does age well :)

And Ruari I love, but again if we lived down here I might have to put up with people pronouncing it wrong.

Ooh so excited now! Thank you! xxx:happydance:

You would probably end up with people mispronouncing Ruari, but I think it's a lovely name!! Rowan I personally think of as more of a girls name. The actual tree isn't particularly masculine or strong in how it looks- it's willowy and short (as it's a mountain tree) and more feminine looking. Weird reasoning, I know!!

Beca

I never heard rowan as a girls name, i've only ever heard of rowan atkinson ya know " mr bean " so i would always says its a boys name .

I'm not sure on ruari tbh but i do think people would defo pronounce it wrong. I dont exactly like it but i dont dislike either.

I like both of them, my eldest son is called Rohan - pronounced the same way as Rowan - no-one has ever assumed he's a girl!
