DH got his SA results back yesterday:

Volume: 3.75
Total Sperm Count: 670 million!
Rapid progression: 10%
Slow progression: 27%
Non-progressive: 18%
Immotile: 45%
Normal forms: 20%

GP doesn't seem too concerned but I think the motility bit is very poor, am I just being over anxious? We have been ttc for 14 months :(

Hi bonfloss! It's so hard to know what is going on the GP's minds, I mean on one hand they are trained professionals and so we think we should accept everything they say and on the other hand they are just general practioners and so do not have extensive knowledge on specialist subjects. Maybe you can google it, there are also some good books out there. In Zita Wests book she gives examples. Are you under fertility clinic, cos they would analyse results better, the only other thing is to see someone privately

If there was a problem I'm sure your GP would have spotted it. He's a professional, after all.

I think for a proper semen analysis you need to have it done through a Gyno or Fertility specialist...Sorry but I'm not sure how to read those results...:hugs: It's your body and life hun, if you don't feel a decision is correct seek a second opinion

is there no way u cud get a gyne on the phone n just ask him wot the ~"normal " levels are for everything they check sperm 4..etc?

or u might find the info on the net!! wishing u a bfp asap...me sel included !!! :)
good luck x x

hey, me n my oh have been trying for 2 years. no known probs, although initially told by gp sperm had too many deformities.

went to gyne appt, and his count is 200 million and has high levels of deformities, but the high count should outweigh this.

hope this helps, we are in same situation

Thanks guys, we have a joint appointment with GP next week and will go armed with a list of questions!! Good luck to you all. xxx

there was a post on here once that had the WHO guidelines of what the semen analysis results were expected to be but i have no idea how to find it.
When we had our results it didnt look like that so i am not sure how to read it either

Hi lollylou1 - I have had another look at the printout of the results and it seems that the WHO guidelines are down at the bottom! I must have missed it in all the commotion of getting the results! The motility section is definitely worrying as they are way under recommended values.

Congrats on your impending arrival!!

thank you. if your not happy with the results go back. i remember that one of my hubbys results said it needed to be higher that 15% normal sperm to class as ok and his was like 7% and we are still having a baby so it still might happen for you hun, good luck and if u need to talk just pm me
