Has anyone had an SA come back originally with no sperm present and then had some show up on a retest? We got the results beck from my DH's SA today and the result was no sperm present, which was a devastating blow to us since we figured all our fertility issues were with me. My obgyn says we should get retested just to be sure but I wanted to see if there was any reason to hold out hope for different results.

We just got our second SA done and it was the same. Our doctor said that they needed two samples to confirm azoospermia.

I'm so sorry. We just found out the same thing on Dec 1.

There is an azoo thread here. I am just sorting through a lot of this myself and would love to chat with you as you work through this.

I hope they find something in his next sample.

So sorry you are going through this too, but I'm glad we're not alone. It was definitely a hard hit to take. I also have PCOS and with that very irregular cycles. We were assuming our issues were just with me but now it looks like it may be both of us.

Have you taken any further steps since you got the diagnosis? I'm not really sure where we go from here other than the retest.

oh hun! first of all :hugs::hugs::hugs: My husband and I have been trying for 5 years (I have PCOS) and my hubby had a SA come back with sperm in it but they were not moving. that was 2 years ago, the doctor sent him for another one which was done today, we should find out tomorrow. I am very nervous so I know what your going through. I hope there was a mistake and it all turns out ok, how long did he hold back before taking the test? they say if a man waits too long, 5 or more days, it can effect the quality of the test. Hang in there girl! Keep us posted, if you need a :friends: feel free to send me a message! I hope we both get good news tomorrow [-o<

Kim, he abstained 2 days which should be fine since they told us 1-3 days. I hope your results are better! We were both pretty nervous for the results since we had already had all my fertility tests done earlier to figure out why my cycles were weird so they were just repeats. I went in trying to prepare for the worst so that anything else wouldn't seem so bad. Of course, my worst case scenario was no sperm so it was pretty rough to get that diagnosis.

We are still very new to it. We're waiting to see a urologist (he's good, so it's a long wait) and we see the fertility clinic on Jan 25th. We're anxious to start getting tests done. I could barely function at first, but am doing better. I have a lot of links bookmarked, if you are interested.

CanadianMaple I'd love to see any links you've been through. Right now I'm trying to process and of course get as much information as possible to see what our options are.

Nothing useful to add I'm afraid. I'm just awaiting OH's SA results (done last Friday, but won't be in until at least Friday - maybe even next week! Why so long when everyone else seems to get theirs in a couple of days!?) and nervously reading up. Of course the worst case scenario is 0 sperm present and so this is what I'm particularly nervous about as it may mean the end of the road for us, though I realise it doesn't have to be.
Good luck for your re-test and I hope you both manage to reach a satisfactory conclusion.

Thanks! Good luck with your results! I am slightly more hopeful now (though I know it is a bit silly to get my hopes up). I called to schedule his retest and the woman remembered him and said he was very uncomfortable there (which they noted in his results) so they're giving us a home collection this time since I guess being nervous and uncomfortable can have an affect on the results. Hoping for some better results this time but still cautiously expecting the worst.

Thank you all for your support in this! Since we're not announcing that we're trying, there are not many people we can turn to for support right now.
