SA test coming up

so my husband scheduled his SA... its for thursday the 13th. they said we cant have intercourse for 5 days prior. #1. Grrrr #2. we've never gone that long without it in the 7 years we've been having sex (minus 8.5 consecutive months of boot camp and schooling), i feel like its gonna be completely inaccurate. does anyone know resources to figure out how much count/quality decreases with frequency?

Seems like most places say to abstain a min 48 hours before. 5 days is a little extreme. I can tell you anecdotally from my experience our worst sample after BDing twice in one day and abstaining for 48 hours before the sample. Our best was after waiting 5 days but the motility was way lower. So it seems the count goes higher when you wait longer but the motility is better when you do it sooner.

hmmmm thats very interesting. i just think itd be more accurate (for us specifically) if it was only 2 or 3 days abstaining. i dont chart or anything because we do BD so often, mostly because dont really understand it even after 5 years, but we have cut it down by orders from my doctor. my husband has never smoked, drank, or done a drug in his life, has always worn boxers, is vegan, exercises regularly, has never had an injury, is not over weight, and takes cooler showers (as requested by me and the doctor) so i dont feel much else but sex (or genetics) would be the problem (on his side). i just desperately want it to turn out good so i can gets me some clomid lol

It'll be fine I bet. I was surprised when I found out my DH was the problem btwn us, but he drinks a lot and has a stressful job so I think that has a lot to do with it. He's working on his lifestyle but he's still a work in progress - so much easier when we ladies can take everything in our hands.

haha thank you. that dog is my soul mate in dog form. if all else fails, she can give me lil babies and make me a young grandmother lol.

i guess we'll see how it goes, i dont know why im so nervous about it. i just want some clomid and the doctor said no way until he has results back. so we're taking it easy and just having fun this month before the stress starts, but of course im already stressing...

I think that's about right. My husband is scheduled for a semen analysis this Friday and the nurse told me when I scheduled it that he needs to be sure that he's ejaculated no more than 5 days from this Friday and no less than 2 days from this Friday if that makes sense. So basically the sperm can't be older than 5 days old, but fresher than 2 days old, lol... We'll see. We were should to get it in today so that the results could be more accurate as tomorrow and thursday would not be in the guidelines given. Good luck with the SA!!! So I think I'm gonna call my doctor tomorrow and see if she can give me a script for clomid before his test. I looked at the calendar and his test is on the 13th and I'm due for AF on the 8th and I really don't want to miss another cycle without it for many reasons, aside from being antsy haha. Do you think this is out of line?

No... I don't think so. Trust me when I say feeling antsy about the situation. I just found out that I need to take a birth control for a month before taking clomid again. That would make it 22 months of trying... I'm so sick of all this!
