To those whos OH's have had to do a SA test, did any of them have to be re-tested because the results were bad due to not getting the who 'sample' in the pot?

OH had his this week and didn't get it all in the pot and we're worried it's going to affect his results quite a bit.

I imagine they don't use the whole thing if it is like any other fluids tests. I'm not sure exactly how they test it but my assumption is that they run tests on portions of the sample. I think the sperm count is done per milliliter so if a little is missing is should still be accurate since they're testing per such a small volume.

I was told that if we especially missed the beginning part that we would have to do it again. There's something in the beginning that they need to test. On our SA he missed one drop in the middle and they said it was fine

Yup, this happened to us. My DH didn't get it all into the cup and his results were just below normal. When he retested and got everything in the cup, the tests came back normal.

Well typically of my OH guess what part he missed getting into the pot? :dohh: on the form I handed it with it I had marked that some was 'spilt' but not asked how much of when.

Thank you, well I guess it's OH's own silly thought he'll have to go through the not so fun experiance of having to do it again

That's what I was thinking but I guess after reading the other answers it's not the case :( I could shoot OH, one thing he had to do and he messed it up :growlmad:

I guess wait until you hear back. I guess it could effect the volume count that I think they do but maybe the part he missed was just a little and it won't effect it too much.

my oh did a second one, took it to the hospital an he didn't put the lid on so it spilt everywhere!!! they obviously couldn't accept that sample lol!! x

OMG!!!!!!! You are having the worst luck ever with the SA! 3rd times a charm? I know it has to be so annoying and frustrating, but I think you'll look back one day and laugh!

My DH goes on Jan 6th... I'm gonna make him read this thread first!!!! So he realizes the "spill" could happen! lol

I thought, 'right, this can't be hard for him to get wrong' well how wrong was I? I mean really is it that difficult to get it in a pot haha, seems the answer is yes and the twat that my OH is didn't even think to have the lid off the pot and ready, I mean seriously do men have any brains lol :dohh:

ha were already laughing about it!! 3rd result was crap, 18million which is better than the 1st 5million but this lot ain't goin in a straight line!!!!!! Arr x
