How and when does your OH give you money? Is it every month? Through bank transfer or in cash??

My OH pays me by bank transfer and it's usually when I moan about not having enough in the bank lol!!!

We have a joint account too. All the money goes into one, and I transfer the 'bill' money into another. He then gets money for tabacco and the rest is for food!

Im not a SAHM but we both pay in our wages to the joint account and then each week (my OH gets paid weekly) I distribute to savings, and our personal accounts so we get an equal amount of money. That way we can buy things without the other knowing like bday presents etc.

OH has a standing order set up to my account every week for £90, which is spending money for me and the kids for the week. I also pay my bills i.e. car insurance, petrol, phone bill etc out of it.

I also get access to his card every week to do the weekly shop and if we need something which my money won't cover I just tell him and he'll normally tell me to use his card, I don't mind asking either

Occasionally he'll give me an extra 'booster' to spend on me, normally after I've complained a bit about the state of my wardrobe, or needing a haircut! Its not very often I need that though maybe just a couple of hundred pounds once or twice a year.

Our finances used to be VERY separate, mainly when I was working, but it took me a while to let go of my independence. I used to put food shopping on my credit card because I didn't like asking him for money

Things are much better now though!

we dont a joint account but we both have online banking and i have access to his account and i just bump money from his account to mine. we share all our money.

I'm not a SAHM either but we have a joint account also, wages go into our own accounts and then I use online banking to transfer everything into the joint, what's his is mine and vice versa we don't differentiate and it'll be the same in the months (hopefully only weeks lol) that I am a SAHM while looking for work when we move.

Thanks for replies! It sound's stupid but for some reason it feels that having a joint account is more of a commitment than having a baby together !!!!!!

We do share our money, well he shares his with me lol as I don't have any!........ I get to use his card for stuff but it's interesting to see how many have a joint account!!.... We might have to have the chat!

My Husband gives me £600 a month but out of that I pay the Ctax and elec. I guess it leaves approx £350.

No joint acct here and we both likeit that way!

During the month we both for shopping.

My husband just transfers all his money (apart from £50 he uses to buy snacks/meals when he's at work) into my account, and I do all the bills, shopping and so on. He never questions it and in fact pushes me to spend more of it on myself. He's pretty wonderful!!
